Atal Bihari Vajpayee Passes Away At 93

Former Prime Minister of India Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee is no more . He passed away at  5:05 pm on 16th august 2018. The three times prime minister has a lot of achievements up his sleeve during his period.

An incredible era has come to an end with the demise of one of the few eminent leaders who was strong , bold at the same time genuine politician. One of the best orator in Parliament as whenever he speaks there will be pin drop silence and he will sure get lauded for the flawless person he was. Also the intensive command he carries in his speech will equally be comical at times which will move even the opposition party.

The man behind Pokhran nuclear test and too India to not sign the NPT. While defending Pokhran : “We did not do it to boast our valour”. These were his golden words which again proves the that he was an embodiment of an iconic leader. “We have been the victims of three attacks. This fate should not repeat. We are not getting ready to attack anyone. We don’t have that intention. I was asked about the connection between Pokhran-II and the Lahore bus service. They are two sides of the same coin — the strength of our defense and the hand of friendship — the hand of friendship through honesty.”

The man with iron will. Pokhran-II, Kargil war in one hand, golden quadrilateral in the other hand. He will be remembered as the politician who kept country above politics. He was indeed one of the best prime ministers we’ve ever had  One more term under his leadership, would have done wonders for India. Great loss to the country.

He was the pillar of various significant developments in India. To mention a few he was the fundamental reason for raising our country’s GDP and introduced education has one of the fundamental right. His esteem contribution towards privatization and improving infrastructure is spell bound. True statesman who kick started telecom revolution will never be forgetten for he was the most loved PM.

Despite strengthening global ties he also whole heartedly worked towards the development of  rural lives through his exemplary schemes like Pradhan Manthri Gram Sadak Yojna and he was the ideal person in implementing Chandrayan 1 project.

He has been honoured with supreme awards that includes Bharath Ratna , Padma Vibushan and many more. He was the first person to give a speech in Hindi at the UN General Assembly in 1977

A leader who was a Member of Parliament for 47 years ever since the Nehru era. The Prime Minister who steered the nation through during the tough coalition years of Indian politics. He is also known for taking bold decisions during crucial time. His diplomacy skills will remain etched in the history books. The way he dealt with the international economic sanctions post ‘Operation Shakti’ nuclear test in 1998 and the peace initiatives in Indo-Pakistan relations are worth mentioning.

A right wing politician who had to function in the tension of balancing the Hindu Rashtra ideology and the Indian Constitution based on secular principles. Also , in the 1999 Kargil War, his leadership defended the country’s integrity and security,

The iron man strived hard to connect India through NHDP. He unveiled the National Highway Development Project (NHDP) to construct world-class highways in India, connecting the four metros (‘Golden Quadrilateral’) and also the four corners of the country.

How can we  forget the Operation Vijay undertaken by the Indian Army without crossing the LOC and regaining the encroached territories of Muskhoh Valley, Batalik Sector, Tololing hilltop, Tiger Hill, Drass etc. He was one of the immensely skilled politician who always tried for harmonious relations between the Centre and the States.

You will be missed sir ! But for you new departments like Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Department of North-East Region and converting the Social Welfare Ministry into the Ministry of Social Justice would have been invisible till date.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was one of the tallest politicians in the country. He suffered from stroke and dementia since 2009. Indian political history would have been different had he been an active politician in his last years.

RIP Sir !  You may be gone, but your history and legacy will never be erased.
