Sparrow Cinemas’ Karthick Venkatesan, who achieved great success by re-releasing Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Mersal’ on his birthday and Puratchi Kalaignar Vijayakanth’s ‘Captain Prabhakaran’ on his birth anniversary using state-of-the-art technology, is now re-releasing the super hit film ‘Amaidhipadai’, a successful collaboration between Puratchi Thamizhan Sathyaraj and Manivannan.

With the political arena heating up in Tamil Nadu ahead of the Assembly elections, ‘Amaidhipadai’, a film released 32 years ago but still relevant to contemporary politics, will be re-released very soon in 4K technology with Dolby sound under the Sparrow Cinemas banner by Karthick Venkatesan.

Since the story is relevant to other parts of India as well, Karthick Venkatesan plans to release ‘Amaidhipadai’ on a grand scale in over 500 theatres across five states: Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, and Karnataka.

Actor Atharvaa Murali has truly become a strongest source of attraction in K-Town with his movies faring well amongst audiences of all age groups. After winning praises for his matured performance ‘DNA’, which garnered tremendous response with its theatrical and OTT release, the actor stole the spotlights with a remarkable spell in ‘Parasakthi’. And now, he is arriving a first-of-its-kind surprising treat for his fans with his dual role in ‘Valai’. The film’s teaser revealed recently has imprinted a promising impact among the audiences. The film is directed by Jeeva Shankar, whose filmography involves a bandwagon of radically distinctive movies like ‘Naan’, ‘Amara Kaaviyam’ and many more.

Sharing the insights about the film, Director Jeeva Shankar says, “The film, set against the backdrops of Rameswaram, revolves around two characters – Sarah and Kutty, both played by Atharvaa Murali. This doesn’t totally delve into the native and lifestyle of fisherman community, but instead is a tale of revenge. Rupa Manjari and Vani Bhojan are playing the female lead characters, and others in the star-cast include Murali Sharma, Aadukalam Narain, Arjai, Jayaprakash, Arul D. Shankar, Thulasi, Mayilsamy, Imman Annachi and many prominent actors. Ghibran has composed four songs that have come out well. We have shot a song each in Andaman, Chennai and Rameswaram.”

What sets this revenge-driven plot apart from existing films in the genre? Ask director Jeeva Shankar and he states, “The reason itself is unique. We have tried conveying the message ‘Revenge’ is the solution or cure to any issues. Even when it’s retaliation to the injustice caused by venomous people. We haven’t tried preaching this as a message, but have crafted a screenplay that will be entertaining and will impress them. We have completed the shooting, and the postproduction work is progressing near completion. The film will entertain and at the same, will convey a good message to audiences. Although there have been many movies shot in the backdrops of Rameswaram, this will be a different and refreshing experience in the theaters.”

‘Pallichattambi’ Wraps Up; Set for Theatrical Release on April 9

The shooting of Pallichattambi, directed by Dijo Jose Antony with Tovino Thomas in the lead role, has been completed. Director Dijo announced the wrap-up of the film through his Instagram page.

Dijo Jose Antony made his directorial debut in 2018 with Queen, followed by the Blockbuster Jana Gana Mana. He later directed Malayalee From India. Known for blending strong social themes with engaging mainstream storytelling, Dijo has carved a distinct space for himself in contemporary Malayalam cinema. Pallichattambi is the biggest film of Dijo’s career so far and also marks his first-ever period film, showcasing his ambition to explore new genres and cinematic scales.

Screenwriter S. Suresh Babu, whose talent was widely recognized with just one film-Mohanlal’s Shikkar-has penned the script for Pallichattambi. His rich cinematic journey includes writing scripts for superstars like Mohanlal, Mammootty, and Jayaram, as well as new-generation actors such as Shine Tom Chacko, Soubin Shahir, and Vinayakan.

Music for the film is composed by Jakes Bejoy, who has consistently delivered hit films and chart-topping songs. Audiences are eagerly expecting another successful album from Jakes Bejoy through Pallichattambi.

படத்தின் இசையமைப்பாளர் ஜிப்ரான் வைபோதா பேசுகையில், “ஒவ்வொரு இயக்குநரும் பல திரைப்படங்களை இயக்கியிருப்பார்கள். அதில் நாம் சிலவற்றை தவறவிட்டிருப்போம். அந்த வகையில் நான் ஒரு இயக்குநரின் இயக்கத்தில் வெளியான அனைத்து படங்களையும் பார்த்திருக்கிறேன் என்றால் அது இயக்குநர் ஆர் எஸ் துரை செந்தில்குமார் இயக்கத்தில் வெளியான படங்களைத் தான். அவருடைய படங்களை பார்க்கும்போது எல்லா தரப்பினருக்கும் ஏற்றதாக இருக்கும். அவரிடம் எல்லா படங்களையும் என்டர்டெய்ன்மென்டாக வழங்கும் மேஜிக் இருக்கிறது. அந்த மேஜிக் இந்த படத்தில் இன்னும் பிரம்மாண்டமாக அமைந்திருக்கிறது. தமிழ் சினிமாவில் ரொம்ப நாளாக இத்தகைய ஜானரிலான படங்களை தவறவிட்டிருக்கிறோம். அதை லீடர் படத்தின் மூலம் மீண்டும் ரசிகர்களுக்காக உருவாக்கி இருக்கிறோம்.

S. துரை செந்தில்குமார் பேசுகையில், “இந்தப் படத்தின் டைட்டில் மற்றும் கிளிம்ப்ஸை பத்திரிக்கையாளர்களின் முன்னிலையில் வெளியிடுவோம் என தயாரிப்பாளரான சரவணன் சார் என்னிடம் சொன்னார். ஊடகங்கள் பிள்ளையார் சுழி மட்டுமல்ல, பிள்ளையாரே அவர்கள் தான். மக்கள் என்ற கடவுளை சந்திப்பதற்கு முன் பிள்ளையாரான பத்திரிகையாளர்களை நாங்கள் தற்போது சந்தித்திருக்கிறோம்.

2022ம் ஆண்டில் செப்டம்பர் மாதத்தில் இருந்து லெஜெண்ட் சரவணன் அவர்களை சந்தித்து பேச்சு வார்த்தையை தொடங்கினேன். 5, 6 மாதங்கள் கழித்து தான் இப்படத்திற்கான பணிகளை இறுதி செய்து தொடங்கினோம்.

அந்தத் தருணத்தில் அவரை சந்தித்து பேசும் போதெல்லாம் அவர் ஆசைக்காகத் தான் நடிக்க வந்திருக்கிறார் என்று தான் நான் முதலில் நினைத்திருந்தேன். ஆனால் அவருடனான தொடர் சந்திப்பில் அவரின் பேச்சு மூலம் சினிமாவை பற்றிய அனைத்து விஷயங்களை நுணுக்கமாக பார்க்கக் கூடியவர் அவர் என்பது தெரிந்தது. அதன் பிறகு தான் அவர் நடிக்க வந்தது ஆசையால் அல்ல என்பது புரிந்தது.

சாதாரணமாக அவருடனான சந்திப்பின்போது ஒருமுறை அவர் பகிர்ந்து கொண்ட விஷயம் என்னை ஆச்சரியப்படுத்தியது. அவர் ஐந்தாவதோ ஆறாவதோ படித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் போது சில இந்தி நடிகர்களின் போட்டோக்களை வீட்டில் ஒட்டி இருந்தாராம். அது தொடர்பாக அவரது அம்மா கேட்டபோது, ‘நான் இவர்களைப் போல் எதிர்காலத்தில் வரவேண்டும், வருவேன்” என்றாராம். அதன் பிறகு அவர் தன்னுடைய குடும்பத்திற்காகவும், கடமைகளுக்காகவும் கடுமையாக உழைத்து உச்சத்தை எட்டி இருக்கிறார். இருந்தாலும் அந்த சிறுவனுடைய ஆசையை, கனவை ஒரு இளைஞனாக- இளைஞர்களுக்கான உத்வேகத்துடன் இந்தப் படத்தை தயாரித்து நடித்திருக்கிறார். இது எனக்கு உண்மையிலேயே சிறந்த முன்னுதாரணமாக இருந்தது.

அவருடன் பழகிய இந்த இரண்டு ஆண்டுகளில் அவருடைய கடும் உழைப்பை நேரில் பார்த்து வியந்து இருக்கிறேன். அவரிடமிருந்து நிறைய கற்றுக் கொண்டிருக்கிறேன். அவரிடம் உள்ள அசாத்தியமான துணிச்சலும் தன்னம்பிக்கையும் எனக்கு மிகவும் பிடிக்கும்.

படப்பிடிப்பு தளங்களில் அவருடனான அனுபவம் ஒவ்வொன்றும் மறக்க முடியாதது.
ஒவ்வொரு இயக்குநருக்கும் அல்டிமேட் கோல் என்னவென்றால், அவர் நினைத்ததை நினைத்த வகையில் உருவாக்கிட வேண்டும் என்பது தான். அதற்கு முழுமையான சுதந்திரமும், அனுமதியும் வழங்கும் தயாரிப்பாளர் தான் தேவை. அந்த வகையிலான ஒரு நல்ல தயாரிப்பாளராகவும், நான் எதைச் சொன்னாலும் அதனை அப்படியே கேட்டு செய்வதற்கு தயாராக இருக்கக்கூடிய நடிகராகவும் அவர் இருந்தார். அவரின் இந்த துணிச்சலை கண்டு தான் நான் இந்த படத்தை இயக்கியிருக்கிறேன். இந்த படம் எங்களுக்கு மன நிறைவை அளித்திருக்கிறது. உங்களுடைய ஆதரவிற்காக ஆர்வத்துடன் காத்திருக்கிறோம். நன்றி,” என்றார்.

தயாரிப்பாளர் / நடிகர் லெஜண்ட் சரவணன் பேசுகையில், “லீடர்- இந்த படத்தின் டைட்டிலை பார்த்தவுடன் உங்கள் அனைவருக்கும் அரசியல் சார்ந்த படமா, அல்லது எந்த மாதிரி படம் என்ற கேள்வி வரும். இந்தப் படத்தில் அரசியல் சார்ந்த காட்சிகளோ, அரசியல் சார்ந்த வசனங்களோ ஒரு துளி கூட கிடையாது. இது முழுக்க முழுக்க ஒரு கமர்ஷியல் என்டர்டெய்னர் ஃபிலிம். தற்போது வெளியாகி இருக்கும் க்ளிம்ப்ஸ் ஒரு பானை சோற்றுக்கு ஒரு சோறு பதம் என்பது போல் இருக்கும். இந்த படத்தின் எசன்ஸ் இதுதான். இதே போல் தான் படம் முழுவதும் இருக்கும்.

இந்தப் படத்தின் கதை என்னவென்றால் ஒரு அப்பாவியான அப்பாவும், பிள்ளையும் சந்தோஷமான வாழ்க்கையை வாழ்ந்து கொண்டிருப்பார்கள். திடீரென்று அவர்களுடைய வாழ்க்கையில் மிகப்பெரிய கேங்க் நுழைந்து விடுவார்கள். அதற்குப் பிறகு நடக்கும் விஷயங்களை தான் என்னுடைய இயக்குநர் துரை செந்தில்குமார் அற்புதமாக திரைக்கதை அமைத்திருக்கிறார். இன்றைய தலைமுறையினருக்கு பிடித்தமான வகையில் திரைக்கதையை அமைத்திருக்கிறார். இதுதான் முக்கியமானது.

ஏனெனில் கதைகள் ஏராளமாக இருக்கும். ஆனால் திரைக்கதை அமைப்பது தான் சவாலானது. அந்த வகையில் இந்தப் படத்தில் முதல் காட்சியிலிருந்து இறுதிக் காட்சி வரை ஒவ்வொரு காட்சியிலும் இயக்குநர் துல்லியமாக செதுக்கி செதுக்கி உருவாக்கி இருக்கிறார்.

ஜிப்ரானின் பின்னணி இசை இந்தப் படத்திற்கு மிகப்பெரிய பலம். அதேபோல் படத்தின் கதையோட்டத்திற்கு தகுந்தாற்போல் பாடல்களுக்கும் அவர் இசையமைத்திருக்கிறார்.

இந்த படத்திற்காக தூத்துக்குடியில் 40 நாட்கள் படப்பிடிப்பு நடத்தினோம். அதன் பிறகு ஜார்ஜியா நாட்டில் 15 நாட்கள் படபிடிப்பு நடத்தினோம். ஜெய்ப்பூர், சென்னை , ஊட்டி ஆகிய இடங்களிலும் படப்பிடிப்பு நடத்தினோம்.‌ ஒவ்வொரு காட்சியிலும் ஒளிப்பதிவாளர் வெங்கடேஷ் அற்புதமாக பணியாற்றி இருக்கிறார்.

சமீபத்தில் வெளியான ‘டிராகன்’ மற்றும் ‘ஜனநாயகன்’ படங்களில் பணியாற்றிய எடிட்டர் பிரதீப் ராகவ் தான் இப்படத்திற்கும் எடிட்டராக பணியாற்றி இருக்கிறார். இந்த படத்திலும் அவர் நேர்த்தியாக பணியாற்றி இருக்கிறார் அவருக்கும் என் வாழ்த்துக்கள்.

கலை இயக்குநர் துரைராஜுக்கும் என் வாழ்த்துக்கள். படப்பிடிப்பு தளத்திற்கு சண்டை பயிற்சி இயக்குநர் மகேஷ் மேத்யூ வந்துவிட்டால் அந்தத் தளமே உற்சாகமடைந்திடும். அந்த அளவிற்கு உத்வேகத்துடன் பணியாற்றுவார்.

சிறிய வயதில் இருந்தே எனக்கு சினிமா மீது ஆர்வம் இருந்தது. என்னுடைய வீட்டில் உள்ள பிரிட்ஜில் ஒரு பக்கம் சல்மான் கான், ஒரு பக்கம் ஷாருக்கான் ஆகியோரின் புகைப்படங்களை ஒட்டி இருப்பேன்.‌ என் தாயிடம் என்றைக்காவது ஒரு நாள் இவர்களைப் போல் நான் ஸ்டார் ஆவேன் என சொல்லி இருக்கிறேன். இதைக் கேட்ட என் தாய் ‘சந்தோஷம்’ என்று சொல்லிவிட்டு சென்று விடுவார்.‌

நான் என்னுடைய தந்தையார் மீது மிகுந்த பக்தியும், மரியாதையும் வைத்திருக்கிறேன். அதன் காரணமாக குடும்ப தொழிலில் ஈடுபட்டு, என்னுடைய தந்தையாருடன் இணைந்து பணியாற்றத் தொடங்கினேன். அதன் பிறகு என்னை நம்பி முழு பொறுப்பையும் வழங்கி விட்டார். நான் கடுமையாக உழைக்கத்தொடங்கினேன். என்னுடைய நிறுவனத்தில் காலையில் முதல் ஆளாக உள்ளே நுழைவேன். அனைவரும் சென்ற பிறகு கடைசி ஆளாக வெளியேறுவேன். ஆரம்பம் முதல் இன்று வரை இப்படித்தான் தொடர்கிறேன். இந்தப் படத்தின் படப்பிடிப்பிலும் இதைத்தான் கடைப்பிடித்தேன். படப்பிடிப்பு தளத்திற்கு முதல் ஆளாக செல்வேன். அங்கிருந்து கடைசி ஆளாக வெளியேறுவேன். நான் எந்த வேலையை செய்தாலும் அதில் முழு கவனத்துடன் அர்ப்பணிப்புடன் உழைப்பேன். இதுதான் என்னுடைய கேரக்டர்.

இன்றைக்கு ஒரு பக்கம் கன்டென்ட் உள்ள படங்கள் தான் வெற்றி பெறும் என்கிறார்கள். மறுபக்கம் மாஸான ஆக்ஷன் படங்கள்தான் வெற்றி பெறும் என்கிறார்கள். இந்த படத்தில் நல்ல கதையம்சமுள்ள கன்டென்ட்டும் இருக்கிறது. மாஸான ஆக்ஷன் எலிமெண்ட்டும் இருக்கிறது. இந்த திரைப்படம் எல்லா தரப்பு ரசிகர்களையும் கவரும் வகையில் உருவாக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.

படத்தை பார்த்த நானும் எங்களுடைய படக் குழுவினரும் மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருக்கிறோம். அதே மகிழ்ச்சியும், சந்தோஷமும், மன நிறைவும் படத்தை பார்க்கும் ரசிகர்களுக்கும் கிடைக்கும் என நினைக்கிறேன்.

சினிமா என்பது ஒரு தனிநபரின் வெற்றி அல்ல. சினிமாவில் பல ஆயிரம் தொழிலாளர்கள் இருக்கிறார்கள். படத்தை திரையிடும் திரையரங்குகளிலும் பல ஆயிரம் தொழிலாளர்கள் இருக்கிறார்கள். இதன் காரணமாக நான் ஒவ்வொரு திரைப்படமும் வெற்றியடைய வேண்டும் என நினைப்பேன்.

சினிமா துறை தற்போது கொஞ்சம் இறங்கு முகமாக இருக்கிறது. தொழிலாளர்களுக்கான வேலை வாய்ப்பு சற்று குறைந்திருக்கிறது. புதிதாக வருபவர்களுக்கும் வேலை வாய்ப்பு முழுமையாக கிடைப்பதில்லை. அதனால் தான் நான் எப்போதும் ஒவ்வொரு திரைப்படமும் வெற்றி அடைய வேண்டும் என நினைப்பேன். அதேபோல் பத்திரிகையாளர்களாகிய நீங்களும் இந்த சினிமாத்துறை வளர்ச்சி அடைவதற்கும், மீண்டும் எழுச்சி பெறுவதற்கும் உங்களாலான பங்களிப்பை தொடர்ந்து வழங்க வேண்டும் என கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறேன்.‌

இந்தப் படத்தின் முதல் சிங்கிள் பாடலை பிப்ரவரி 14-ம் தேதி காதலர் தினத்தன்று வெளியிடுகிறோம். அதைத்தொடர்ந்து மார்ச் மாதம் ஆறாம் தேதி இப்படத்திற்கான க்ளிம்ப்ஸ் வெளியிடுகிறோம்.

இந்த திரைப்படத்தை ஏப்ரல் மாதத்தில் வெளியிடுவதற்கான அனைத்து முயற்சிகளையும் செய்து கொண்டிருக்கிறோம். இதற்கு முன்னதாக பிரம்மாண்டமான முறையில் படத்தின் இசை வெளியீட்டு விழா நடைபெறும். அந்த விழாவில் இப்படத்தில் பணியாற்றிய நடிகர்கள் நடிகைகள் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்பக் கலைஞர்கள் அனைவரும் கலந்து கொள்வார்கள்,” என்றார்.

While deciding the title, we noticed similarities with my Kabali look and action style, so we chose Yogi Da.
For Kabali, I actually cut my hair. For this film, I used a wig. After Kabali, many women cut their hair inspired by my role and that’s when I realized how deeply a film can impact people.
