The Bed, written and directed by S. Manibharathi after his notable films Vettu Vettu and Parivarthanai, is gearing up for a grand theatrical release across Tamil Nadu this January.
The film, bankrolled by V. Vijayakumar under the Srinidhi Productions banner gets a Midas-touch with the release by newly launched ambitious Anjaneya Productions of Coimbatore, the film features Srikanth in the lead role alongside Srushti Dange as the female lead, with John Vijay, Black Pandi, Pappu, and Devi Priya portraying impactful supporting characters.
The film, a new-fangled genre made with the intention of offering a never-before cinematic experience, is shot amidst the awe-inspiring natural grandeur of the Nilgiris, deep forest trails drenched in mist and expansive tea estates breathing tranquillity. The Bed promises an entirely refreshing cinematic sensibility. Rather than narrating events through a conventional human protagonist, the screenplay adopts a boldly imaginative viewpoint: the story unfolds through the silent gaze of a “BED”, placed inside a secluded cottage in Ooty, a witness to the private storms and secret longings of the lives it supports.
Shedding lights on ‘Bed’, and sharing his experience of shaping this film, Director S. Manibharathi says, “Producer Vijayakumar and our lead actor Srikanth are truly the greatest blessings this film has given me. The moment Anjaneya Productions’ K. Kandasamy and K. Ganesan watched the film, they immediately came forward to release it, for that I remain deeply grateful. Releasing right at the dawn of a New Year, The Bed will arrive as a celebration for audiences. We shot romantic sequences in the midnight frost of Ooty, it was brutally challenging for its climatic conditions, yet the results have become some of the film’s most cherished moments.

Director Vipin Radhakrishnan brings an honest, rural story to the big screen. Angammal follows a mother whose traditional attire, respected in her village, becomes a point of shame for her son as he anxiously prepares for his in-laws’ visit. What seems small evolves into a deep examination of identity, dignity, womanhood, and the emotional negotiations within a family. Following the release of the first single “EmKoney” from the upcoming film Draupathi 2, director Mohan G has responded to public criticism surrounding the track and the involvement of singer Chinmayi Sripaada.
Chinmayi, who performed the song, issued a public apology shortly after its release, stating that she had been unaware of the film’s ideological background at the time of recording. She added that had she known more about the project, she would have declined to participate.
In a statement, Mohan G expressed disappointment over the apology, noting that he personally chose Chinmayi for the song and that the recording session was conducted without the music composer present. According to him, Chinmayi had been briefed solely on the tonal style required for the track, and no contextual or ideological details were discussed.
The director said he was surprised that Chinmayi made her statement without seeking clarification from him or the composer. He called on her to either clarify her remarks or consider removing the tweet.
Mohan G also urged the public not to target other members of the film’s cast and crew, stressing that criticism should be directed at him alone. Targeting collaborators, he said, amounted to “cowardice.”
Questioning Chinmayi’s reference to “contradictory ideologies,” he remarked that her surname “Sripaada” itself indicates a connection to faith, suggesting he was unclear about the ideological differences she was referring to.

வெளியாகவிருக்கும் ‘திரௌபதி 2’ படத்தின் முதல் தனிப்பாடலான ‘எம் கோனே’ சமீபத்தில் வெளியானது. இந்தப் பாடலைப் பாடிய சின்மயி வெளியிட்டுள்ள கருத்தால் பாடலை சுற்றி எழுந்துள்ள விமர்சனங்களுக் இயக்குநர் மோகன் ஜி பதிலளித்துள்ளார்.

ப்ராமிஸ் என்ற சொல்லுக்கு சத்தியம், உத்திரவாதம் ,உறுதி என்ற பல்வகையான பொருள் படும். எழுத்து மூலமாக எழுதப்படும் ஆவணம் தெரியும். அது போன்ற மதிப்பு மிக்கது வாய்மொழியாகச் சொல்லப்படும் சத்தியம் அதாவது ப்ராமிஸ் .அதனால்தான் நீதிமன்றத்தில் வழக்கு விசாரணை தொடங்கும் போது முதலில் ‘நான் சொல்வதெல்லாம் உண்மை’ என்று சத்தியம் செய்யச் சொல்கிறார்கள். வாய்மொழியாகச் சொல்லப்படும் ப்ராமிஸ் எனப்படும் அந்த சத்தியத்தின் பின்னே இருப்பது உண்மையும் நம்பிக்கையும் உறுதிப்பாடும் தான். இறுதியில் அதுதான் ஜெயிக்கும்.அதனால்தான் நமது தேசியச் சின்னத்தில் ‘சத்தியமேவ ஜெயதே’ ,அதாவது வாய்மையே வெல்லும் என்று எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இந்திய மக்களிடம் புகழ்பெற்ற உண்மையையே பேசிய அரிச்சந்திரனும் அவனைப் பின்பற்றிய காந்தியும் வரலாற்றில் சத்தியத்தின் சாட்சியங்களாக இருப்பதை அறியலாம்.
அப்படி அந்தச் சத்தியத்தை மையமாக வைத்து உருவாகி இருக்கும் படம்தான் ப்ராமிஸ்.
கதையின் நாயகனாக நடித்து இந்தத் திரைப்படத்தை அருண்குமார் சேகரன் இயக்கியுள்ளார்.
