Chennai, 5 July 2025: The two-day Indian Intraocular Implant & Refractive Surgery Convention 2025 (IIRSI Convention), India’s premier convention on eye surgery and the flagship annual event of Intraocular Implant & Refractive Society of India (IIRSI), was inaugurated by Shri Anil Kumar Bachoo, Minister of Health & Wellness, Government of Mauritius along with Shri Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services of Tamil Nadu today, in the presence of Dr. Arthi Ganesh, Pro-Chancellor – Vels University, the Guest of Honour.
Led by Dr. Satanshu Mathur, President, IIRSI,alongside Prof. Amar Agarwal, Secretary General, IIRSI, and Dr. Mahipal S. Sachdev, Chairman Scientific Committee – IIRSI, the convention attracted over 1,000 leading ophthalmologists, surgeons, researchers, and experts from around the world. The event featured foreign faculty lectures, live surgery, hands-on wetlab focusing cataract, refractive and intraocular implantation.
The event witnessed Ophthalmic Premier League, IIRSI Film Festival Award Show (IFFA), IIRSI photography competition, court martial in ophthalmology, various symposia, didactic lectures and exclusive sessions for young ophthalmologists. Ophthalmologists were also recognised with awards for their exceptional contributions to various eye care specialisations.
Addressing the convention, Shri. Anil Kumar Bachoo, Minister of Health & Wellness, Government of Mauritius said, “It’s a privilege to witness the unifying power of medicine and shared values between many nations. India’s advancements in healthcare continues to inspire global collaboration. July 5, 2025, Coimbatore: “I am happy that, with the support of Isha Foundation, tribal women have become lakhpatis and are now paying income tax. Initiatives like these will pave the way for a Viksit Bharat and fulfil the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sadhguru,” said Shri Jual Oram, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, after interacting with local tribal villagers during his visit to the Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore yesterday.
The Minister was referring to the remarkable journey of tribal women from Thanikandi village who, under Isha’s guidance, came together to form the Chellamariyammann Self-Help Group in 2018. With an initial working capital of just ₹200, they began running small shops near Adiyogi, then an emerging tourist destination. Over the years, these humble ventures have grown into flourishing enterprises with turnovers running into crores. Today, these women proudly pay taxes and contribute to the nation’s development.
Taking a keen interest in Isha’s rural outreach efforts, particularly in tribal welfare, he expressed a strong desire to visit a nearby tribal village to further interact with the villagers. “The work done by Isha, including rural development, education, health, spirituality and preserving the culture, is commendable. Isha has been instrumental in the development of the village that I visited today, and they are very happy with Isha,” observed the Minister during his visit to the village.
For years, Isha Foundation has actively supported nearby tribal and rural villages by improving access to healthcare, education, and livelihood opportunities. During his visit, the Minister explored the consecrated spaces of the Isha Yoga Center, including the iconic 112-ft Adiyogi; Suryakund, an energised water body; Dhyanalinga, a profound meditative space; and Linga Bhairavi Devi, a fierce yet compassionate manifestation of the Divine Feminine. He also visited Sadhguru Gurukulam Samskriti, a traditional residential school rooted in the Bhartiya Gurukulam system, and Isha Home School, known for its holistic, child-centric approach to education.

பழங்குடியின பெண்களை வரி செலுத்துவோர்களாக ஈஷா உயர்த்தியுள்ளது. இது வளர்ந்த பாரதம் என்ற இலக்கை அடைய வழி வகுக்கும் முன்னெடுப்பு என மத்திய பழங்குடியினர் நலத்துறை அமைச்சர் ஜூவல் ஓரம் பாராட்டு தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
கோவை ஈஷா யோக மையத்திற்கு நேற்று (04.07.2025) மத்திய பழங்குடியினர் விவகாரத்துறை அமைச்சர் ஜூவல் ஓரம் வருகை புரிந்தார். அப்போது, ஈஷாவைச் சுற்றியுள்ள பழங்குடியின மக்களுடன் கலந்துரையாடிய பிறகு அவர் இவ்வாறு கூறினார்.
ஈஷாவின் வழிகாட்டுதலின் கீழ் 2018-ஆம் ஆண்டில், தானிக்கண்டி பழங்குடியின கிராமத்தைச் சேர்ந்த பெண்கள் ஒன்றிணைந்து, நபருக்கு வெறும் 200 ரூபாய் முதலீட்டில் ‘செல்லமாரியம்மன் சுய உதவிக் குழுவை’ உருவாக்கினர். இந்த சுய உதவிக்குழு மூலம் ஆதியோகி வளாகத்தில் சிறிய கடையை அவர்கள் நடத்தத் தொடங்கினர். மிகச்சிறிய முதலீட்டில் துவங்கிய அவர்களின் கடை இன்று 1 கோடிக்கும் மேல் வர்த்தகம் செய்யும் செழிப்பான நிறுவனமாக வளர்ந்துள்ளது.
இன்று இந்த பழங்குடியினப் பெண்கள் சுய தொழில்முனைவோர்களாக உருவெடுத்து, பெருமையுடன் வரி செலுத்தி நாட்டின் வளர்ச்சிக்கு பங்களிக்கும் அளவிற்கு உயர்ந்துள்ளனர். இதனை குறிப்பிட்டே அமைச்சர் ஈஷாவின் பழங்குடியின நலப் பணிகளை பாராட்டினார். மேலும் ஈஷாவின் பிற கிராமப்புற மற்றும் பழங்குடி நலப் பணிகள் குறித்து மிகுந்த ஆர்வத்துடன் கேட்டறிந்த அமைச்சர், ஈஷாவிற்கு அருகிலுள்ள பழங்குடி கிராமத்திற்கு சென்று கிராம மக்களுடன் உரையாடினார்.
இதன் பின்பு பேசிய அமைச்சர், “கிராமப்புற மேம்பாடு, கல்வி, சுகாதாரம், ஆன்மீகம் மற்றும் கலாச்சாரத்தைப் பாதுகாத்தல் உள்ளிட்ட ஈஷாவின் பணிகள் பாராட்டத்தக்கவை. இன்று நான் பார்வையிட்ட கிராமத்தின் வளர்ச்சியில், ஈஷா முக்கிய பங்கு வகித்துள்ளது. மேலும் பழங்குடியின மக்கள் ஈஷாவுடன் இணைந்து இருப்பதில் மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருக்கிறார்கள்.
ஈஷா அறக்கட்டளையின் உதவியால் பழங்குடியினப் பெண்களின் வாழ்வாதாரம் உயர்ந்து, தற்போது வரி செலுத்துகிறார்கள் என்பது எனக்கு மகிழ்ச்சி அளிக்கின்றது. இதுபோன்ற முன்னெடுப்புகள் வளர்ந்த பாரதம் என்ற இலக்கை அடைய வழி வகுக்கும். மேலும் இது பிரதமர் நரேந்திர மோடி மற்றும் சத்குருவின் தொலைநோக்குப் பார்வையை நிறைவேற்றும்” எனக் கூறினார்.
ஈஷா அறக்கட்டளை பல ஆண்டுகளாக, அருகிலுள்ள பழங்குடி மற்றும் கிராமப்புற பகுதியில் உள்ள மக்களுக்கு கல்வி, சுகாதாரம் மற்றும் பொருளாதார வாய்ப்புகளை வழங்கி வருகிறது. குறிப்பாக இப்பகுதி மாணவர்கள் உயர் கல்வியை தொடர கல்வி உதவித்தொகைகள், அனைத்து மக்களுக்கும் 24 மணி நேரமும் சுகாதார சேவைகள், கழிவு மேலாண்மை, ஊட்டச்சத்து தொகுப்புகள் மற்றும் சுற்றியுள்ள கிராம மக்களுக்கு திறன் மேம்பாட்டு பட்டறைகள் நடத்துதல் உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு பணிகளை ஈஷா செய்து வருகிறது.
முன்னதாக அமைச்சர், ஈஷா யோக மையத்தில் சூர்யகுண்டம், லிங்க பைரவி, தியானலிங்கம், ஆதியோகி வளாகங்களில் தரினசம் செய்தார். இதனுடன் ஈஷா ஹோம் ஸ்கூல் மற்றும் சத்குரு குருகுலம் – ஈஷா சம்ஸ்கிருதி பள்ளிகளையும் அவர் பார்வையிட்டார்.
