The festival highlights film as a communication medium and features works by international and Indian filmmakers, including Veni, Vedi, Fugi, Last Tango in Consta, and The New Year by Robert Eugen Popa and Bogdan Muresan; Chimbu Devan’s moving drama Boat; Sara’s environmental documentary Cauvery: River of Life; Era Saravanan’s boundary-pushing Nandan; and Pari Elavazhagan’s thought-provoking Jama.

Hip-hop/R&B-inspired girl group XG held their Osaka concert on Match 15/16 as part of their world tour, “XG 1st WORLD TOUR ‘The first HOWL'”, at Osaka-Jo Hall.

During the March 15 show, MAYA and COCONA performed ‘SHOW YOU CAN (Prod. Czaer, JAKOPS)’, a track featured on the Korean compilation album ‘Street Woman Fighter 2 (SWF2) Crew Songs’ (released in 2023). Osaka fans were thrilled as the song was performed for the first time on the world tour.

‘கேம்பஸ் கிராண்டி’ (Campus Kranti), ’ஸ்டூடண்ட்ஸ்’ (Students), ’பிருந்தாஸ் கூக்லி’ (Brundass Googly) ஆகிய திரைப்படங்கள் மூலம் கன்னட திரையுலகில் முன்னணி இயக்குநர் மற்றும் தயாரிப்பாளராக வலம் வரும் சந்தோஷ் குமார், தமிழ் சினிமாவில் அறிமுகமாகிறார். அவர் எழுதி இயக்கி தயாரிக்கும் முதல் தமிழ்ப் படத்திற்கு ’யுவன் ராபின் ஹூட்’ (Yuvan Robin Hood) என்று தலைப்பு வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

Action-packed commercial entertainer ‘Yuvan Robin Hood’ shoot starts with a ritual pooja ceremony. 

 Well-respected producer and director Santhosh Kumar has established himself as a prominent figure in the Kannada film industry with successful films such as “Campus Kranti”, “Students”, and “Brundass Googly”. He is now making his directorial debut in the Tamil film industry with “Yuvan Robin Hood”, a project he wrote and directed himself.

Significantly, this film also marks the debut of Kannada actor Veeran Keshav in K-Town. Bollywood actress Alfiya Sheik is performing the female lead role opposite him in this movie. The ensemble star cast also includes Rithvika, Ponvannan, Shruthi Sudhir, Deshpande, and Chandrashekar among other prominent actors. 

This film, produced by Santhosh Kumar of Passion Movie Makers, was launched on March 15 at Prasad Lab in Chennai, which was a ritual pooja ceremony, attended by many eminent personalities from the film industry. 

Director-Producer Santhosh Kumar sheds light on the film, stating, “The protagonist’s mother names him Gandhi and raises him with the Gandhian principle of leading a non-violent and peaceful life. However, he faces constant mockery and trolling for his name throughout his childhood. When others test his patience by physically assaulting him, his mother’s outburst surprises him; she expresses her anger, which shocks Gandhi. When he inquires about this unexpected reaction, she explains that his father was always aggressive, fighting for the well-being of the people and society. In contrast, society has labeled him as a thug and ruffian. This is why I named you Gandhi and wanted you to be a silent and calm person, unlike him.

The protagonist begins to dislike his name, “Gandhi,” as well as the path of non-violence. Instead, he chooses to follow his father’s approach to helping the poor and needy. He begins to see himself as a “Robin Hood”, dedicated to this mission. As a result, he earns the wrath of politicians who conspire to undermine him, aided by the police on one side and thugs on the other. Does he manage to tackle the odds and battle the hurdles form the crux of this story.” 

Martin Clement is composing music and Mathew Rajan is handling cinematography for this film, which features editing by Shanmugham. 

The film is planned to be shot across the exotic locales of Chennai, Mumbai and Bangalore. The film’s shooting is all set to take off by end of this month, which is directly made in Tamil, and will be dubbed in Kannada and Hindi as well.
