இந்த படத்தில் எனக்கு ஒரு பாடலாசிரியராக (Lyric Writer) பணியாற்றும் வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்தது மிகுந்த மகிழ்ச்சியை அளிக்கிறது. இதற்கு முன், என் இயக்கத்தில் உருவான வட்டாரம் படத்தில் இடம்பெற்ற “யார் தருவார் இந்த அரியாசனம்” என்ற பாடலை நான் எழுதியிருந்தேன். அதன் பிறகு தொடர்ந்து பாடல்கள் எழுதும் வாய்ப்பு அமையவில்லை. காரணம், என் படங்களில் பெரும்பாலும் வைரமுத்து அவர்களே பாடல்களை எழுதுவார்.

இந்த பாடல், இன்றைய சமூகச் சூழ்நிலையை பிரதிபலிப்பதோடு மட்டுமல்லாமல், அதன் பின்னணியில் ஒரு வரலாற்றுச் சாயலையும் கொண்டிருக்க வேண்டும் என்று நினைத்தேன். அதற்காக, 1900களில் சென்னை உருவாகிய காலகட்டத்தில், குறிப்பாக பிளாக் டவுன் பகுதிகளில் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்ட சொற்கள், அவற்றின் அர்த்தங்கள் மற்றும் அகராதி குறிப்புகளை ஆராய்ச்சி செய்தேன். அந்த காலத்துச் சொற்களைப் பாடலின் பின்னணியில் இணைத்தால் தனித்துவமான அழகு கிடைக்கும் என்பதால், அந்த ஆய்வின் அடிப்படையில் இந்த பாடலை உருவாக்கினேன்.

இந்த பாடல் ஒரு ப்ரமோஷனல் சாங்காக இருந்தாலும், அதை மனதார ஏற்றுக் கொண்டு இந்த வாய்ப்பை வழங்கிய இயக்குநர், தயாரிப்பாளர், இசையமைப்பாளர் அஸ்வமித்ரா, அகத் மகேந்திரன் மற்றும் முழு படக்குழுவினருக்கும் என் மனப்பூர்வமான நன்றிகள். குறிப்பாக இந்த வாய்ப்பை எனக்கு அளித்த இயக்குநருக்கு என் சிறப்பு நன்றி.
