Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital in association with its research and educational wing, Eye Research Centre, Chennai is organizing the 16th Annual Continuing Medical Educational (CME) programme – Kalpavriksha ’23, the National Post-Graduate Continuing Medical Educational programme for ophthalmology students. The two-day programme was inaugurated by Dr. Namrata Sharma, Chairman, Scientific Committee, AIOS. The event was presided over by Prof. Amar Agarwal, Chairman, Dr Agarwals Group of Eye Hospital and Dr. Santosh G Honavar being the Guest of Honour for the function.

Initiated in the year 2007, Kalpavriksha (Meaning – wish-fulfilling divine tree that is a common trope in Sanskrit literature), the National Postgraduate CME Program is attended by upcoming Ophthalmologists from more than 35 medical colleges / institutes, who are undertaking exams.

The program provides a platform to listen and interact with the faculty who are experts in their respective field of ophthalmology. The uniqueness of this program is the interesting case presentation on the 2nd day. They also receive first hand tips from the faculty on presenting the clinical cases and discussion during the program.

Inaugurating the two-day programme, Dr. Namrata Sharma, Chairman, Scientific Committee – AIOS said, “It is indeed my pleasure to inaugurate Kalpavriksha. I would like to praise the role of Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital and Eye Research Centre in providing budding ophthalmologists exposure to the latest procedures so that they can update their knowledge.”

Prof. Amar Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director, Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospitals said, “In this 16th year of Kalpavriksha. This programme provides first hand tips from experienced faculties with presentation of clinical cases and an elaborate discussion during the two-day program. This program would benefit ophthalmologists in acquiring better skills and to serve the larger community including patients.”

Kalpavriksha ’23 includes Dr. J. Agarwal Exemplary Award, Dr. V. Velayutham consistent performer award and Dr. (Mrs.) T Agarwal Award is awarded to the most interesting case presentation in the program.

In the practical session, every delegate will be briefed on examining some of the most difficult cases like squint or diagnosing procedure – retinoscopy / gonioscopy. All the participants will have exposure to the latest hi-tech bio-medical equipment’s, which are available only in a few of the leading eye hospitals of the country. The coverage includes all important exam related topics and practical exam case presentations.

A Quiz and Competitive Rapid-fire revision round was conducted among participants.
