இயக்குநர் எம்.எஸ்.ஸ்ரீபதி ‘800’ படம் குறித்து கூறுகையில், “சில படங்களே திரைப்பட இயக்குநர்களுக்கு முழு திருப்தியைத் தரக்கூடியதாக இருக்கும். இதுபோன்ற படங்கள் அரிதாகவே நிகழ்கின்றன. தனது கனவுகளை நிலைநிறுத்த அனைத்து எல்லைகளையும் தாண்டிய ஒரு மனிதனின் வாழ்க்கை வரலாற்றை படமாக உருவாக்குவதற்கு நான் பாக்கியம் செய்தவனாகவும் ஆசீர்வதித்தவனாகவும் உணர்கிறேன். முத்தையா முரளிதரன் சாரின் ஒரு சிறப்பு என்னவென்றால், அவர் கடல் கடந்தும் ஒரு ரசிகர் பட்டாளத்தைக் கொண்டுள்ளார். அவர் களத்தில் ஒரு மந்திரவாதி. அவரது ஆட்டத்தை எல்லோரும் ஆச்சரியத்துடன் பார்ப்பார்கள். தவிர, அவரது பூர்வீகம் தமிழ்நாடு என்பதால், அவரை எப்போதும் தங்கள் ‘மண்ணின் மகன்’ என்றே ரசிகர்கள் கருதினர்.
