Parimala and Co is that rare Tamil film that manages to be funny, suspenseful, and emotionally satisfying all at once. Director Pandiraj returns to his strong suit—middle-class family dynamics—and spices it up with a murder mystery that actually works.
The story kicks off light and relatable: a typical Tamil family finds themselves under suspicion when the man who was harassing their daughter turns up dead. What follows is a clever, at times chaotic, whodunit that never loses its heart. The film balances comedy and tension beautifully, making it a perfect family entertainer without feeling forced or preachy.
Jayaram and Urvashi deliver warm, natural performances that anchor the film, while Mysskin quietly steals several scenes. Even the comic relief, especially Yogi Babu, lands his jokes without dragging the pacing.
What really stands out is the film’s social relevance—it tackles issues women face in everyday life, but wraps it in humor and suspense so it never feels heavy-handed. The climax is meaningful and satisfying, leaving you with something to think about after the laughs.
Songs are catchy (especially “Vachava”), the screenplay keeps you engaged, and the mystery holds up well enough to keep you guessing till the end. Sure, there are a few stretched moments in the second half, but they don’t ruin the ride.
