The reprisal of Bhopa Swami by Chandan Roy Sanyal in the third season of Aashram Season 3 has risen as one of its prime highlights.
The third instalment of the popular series saw Chandan in a deadlier and better avatar. His performance as the popular Bhopa Swami not only is getting him the love of the audience but is also receiving awards for the same.
Aashram Season 3 is about the meteoric rise of godmen in India and how people blindly follow them in the name of religion. It depicts a hard-hitting narrative through the fictional story of megalomaniac Baba Nirala, who continues to exploit women, engage in the drug trade, and control the town’s politics.
On living Bhopa’s character, Chandan says,” It has been a wonderful journey portraying Bhopa Swami for the different storylines of both the seasons. Thankfully, revisiting my character’s approach for the series hit it off well with the audience. Working with Prakash Jha has been a great learning and I’ll always cherish the memories of shooting for this special series.”
He adds, “I am overwhelmed with the love the audience has poured, the journey has been memorable. I had no idea that people would come to love Bhopa so much that ‘Bhopa Swami’ and ‘Japnaam’ would become catchphrases in their everyday lives. It’s incredible.”
Chandan’s upcoming projects include Shehar Lakhot and a few unannounced ventures.
