As the nation celebrates Navaratri, fans of historical cinema have reason to rejoice: the makers of much-anticipated Draupathi 2, the title based on the religiously celebrated and worshipped entity, have a good news to share. The team that kick-started the shooting in Mumbai has successfully wrapped up the entire filming with Ariyallur schedule. The film is directed by critically-acclaimed filmmaker Mohan G, featuring Richard Rishi in the lead role. Right from the film’s announcement and dashing the first look poster that gave a promising impression about this film being created as a visually grand and emotionally compelling historical drama, the expectations sky-rocketed among the cinephiles and industry.

Sharing the good news on completing the shoot, Director Mohan G states, “No matter how meticulously a director plans, the execution ultimately depends on the strong support of the producer, particularly for logistical challenges. Although this marks the maiden production of Chola Shakkaravarthi sir, his insatiable passion for cinema and prior experience of watching more films, and understanding the art and the creation process, ensured that we upheld the highest standards of quality and creative freedom throughout.”

Producer Chola Shakkaravarthi says, ”As an entrepreneur entering the film industry, I was conscious of its unpredictable nature of showbiz. However, working alongside Mohan G and his meticulously structured approach impressed me greatly. The shooting was completed ahead of schedule, and he has been a producer’s delight in clearing off my doubts of cloudiness and dilemma, by assuring that cinema industry is a good place to stay back and explore the dreams. Draupathi 2, a Tamil-Telugu bilingual historical action drama, is being produced by Chola Shakkaravarthi of Netaji Productions in association with G.M Film Corporation.

While Rakshana Indusudan plays the female lead, Natti Natraj plays a significant role. The film also features Y. G. Mahendran, Nadodigal Barani, Saravana Subbiah, Vel Ramamoorthy, Siraj Johnny, Dinesh Lamba, Ganesh Gaurang, Divi, Devayani Sharma, and Arunodayan.

The dialogues for the film are jointly written by writer Padma Chandrasekhar and Mohan G. Music is composed by Ghibran Vaibodha. Cinematography is handled by Philip R. Sundar, choreography by Thanika Tony, stunt coordination by Action Santosh, editing by Devaraj, and art direction by Kamalnathan.

The project’s completion marks a significant milestone, heralding a film that promises to transport audiences to the grandeur of 14th-century South India with compelling storytelling, striking visuals, and a stellar ensemble cast. With the postproduction work briskly progressing, the makers will be soon releasing the promotional posters that could head the film towards the December release.

The Delhi High Court has recently passed a dynamic+ injunction restraining various rogue websites from illegally streaming, hosting or screening upcoming Bollywood film “Jolly LLB 3” which is scheduled to be released on September 19. Justice Tejas Karia said that any delay in blocking access to the rogue websites could lead to financial losses for JioStar, and an irreparable breach of their copyright in the movie.
For context, JioStar India Private Limited commissioned Kangra Talkies for the development and line production of the movie. Kangra Talkies has confirmed that JioStar is the sole and exclusive owner of all the rights, including all the Intellectual Property Rights and Exploitation Rights of the Film, including the script. The Court passed the ex-parte ad-interim injunction in favour of JioStar in its copyright infringement suit against the rogue websites. It said:
“…it is evident that the considering the possibility of unauthorized dissemination of the Film in question in the age of internet would require effective and swift means to contain the spread of unauthorized dissemination of the Film.” Justice Karia ordered suspension and blocking of the DNRs of the rogue websites and also blocking and deactivation of the websites. “Prior to or during the release of the Film, if any further websites are discovered, which are unauthorizedly streaming and communicating content over which the Plaintiff has the copyright, the Plaintiff is granted liberty to communicate the details of such websites to Defendant Nos. 25 to 45 for blocking, disabling and deactivating the said websites on a real time basis without undue delay,” the Court said.
It added: “Such a relief is called for in the present case as any delay in blocking the websites would, in fact, result in considerable pecuniary loss to the Plaintiff and result in irreparable violation of the copyright of the Plaintiff.” The Court further directed that if any website, which is not primarily an infringing website, is blocked in pursuance of the order, it can approach the Court by giving an undertaking that it does not intend to do any illegal dissemination of the content over which JioStar has Copyright.
