The recent Tamil romantic comedy Bun Butter Jam, which hit screens on July 18 to a highly positive audience response, is now all set to entertain Telugu audiences. After its successful run in Tamil Nadu, the film will release in Telugu in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on August 8.
Ahead of its release, renowned filmmaker Meher Ramesh unveiled the teaser of Bun Butter Jam’s Telugu version today. Bun Butter Jam is a hilarious romantic comedy that blends humour, emotion, and generational dynamics. The story revolves around two mothers who are to get their children married. However, their plans spiral into chaos as their Gen Z kids are caught in a web of friendships, personal confusions, and modern-day romantic dilemmas. What unfolds is a fun, relatable, and heartwarming ride for today’s youth and families alike.

Though initially driven by different ambitions, both are pulled into politics with the aim to serve people. After watching the teaser of that film, I called him, introduced myself, and specifically praised his voiceover in it. Since then, I have frequently requested him to make a film with me. After many years, we finally collaborated in 2021. During my dark times in that same year, Deva garu stood by me like a ray of light. His support meant the world to me. I honestly can’t put it into words. Coming to Mayasabha, I remember Deva garu once told me that he had a story with two lead characters, meant to be told in three parts. I even told him I would audition for it! He has been working on this idea for over 10 years. I wholeheartedly wish the entire cast, technicians, and everyone involved in Mayasabha all the very best. I truly hope the series brings great success to everyone who’s been a part of it.”

In 2016, Sree Harsha came to me with a concept, a story about two friends set against the political landscape of united Andhra Pradesh, spanning the 1970s to the early 2000s. It reminded me of something in the tone of House of Cards, and I loved it immediately. I initially planned to make it as a film. It took time for Mayasabha to find its destiny and I genuinely believe it couldn’t have found a better home than this.”

Chennai, 1 August 2025: The Tamil trailer of Meesha, an upcoming Malayalam suspense thriller written and directed by Emcy Joseph, has officially been released – creating strong buzz among cinema lovers in both Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
With Kathir, critically acclaimed and celebrated for his performances in Pariyerum Perumal, Suzhal: The Vortex, and Vikram Vedha, making his Malayalam debut, the film is now being brought closer to his Tamil fans through a Tamil-dubbed release.
With Kathir’s performance already drawing strong praise from those who have seen early glimpses, expectations are sky-high across Tamil audiences.

Following the success of his recent ventures, Puratchi Thalapathy Vishal has officially commenced shooting for his 35th film today in Chennai. Produced by veteran filmmaker Mr. RB Choudhary under the prestigious Super Good Films banner, this marks a landmark collaboration that has already begun to generate immense buzz across the industry.
Super Good Films has been a powerhouse of Tamil cinema, delivering numerous blockbusters and introducing several talented filmmakers to the industry. This upcoming project marks the 99th film under the celebrated banner, making it a significant milestone for both the production house and Vishal.
Vishal 35 will be helmed by Ravi Arasu, marking his first-time collaboration with the actor. The technical team boasts of stellar names including acclaimed cinematographer Richard M. Nathan, reuniting with Vishal after their successful outing in Madha Gaja Raja. The film also brings back the Mark Antony combo of Vishal and G.V. Prakash Kumar, who will be composing the music. NB Srikanth takes charge of editing, while Durairaj handles art direction. Costume design is led by Vasuki Bhaskar.
Talented actress Dushara Vijayan will be playing the female lead, pairing opposite Vishal for the first time. The cast also includes Thambi Ramaiah and Arjai, while the rest of the ensemble will be revealed soon.
The film was launched with a grand pooja ceremony earlier in July with eminent personalities from the Tamil film industry including directors Vetrimaaran, Saravana Subbaiah (Citizen), Manimaran (NH4), Venkat Mohan (Ayogya), Saravanan (Engeyum Eppodhum), actors Karthi and Jiiva, cinematographer Arthur A Wilson, and distributor Tiruppur Subramaniam gracing the ocassion.
The shooting is set to be completed in a single 45-day schedule in and around Chennai.

அடிப்படையில் பொன்முடி திருமலைசாமி ஒரு தியேட்டர் ஆர்டிஸ்ட்.. கடந்த 11 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு கலைக்கூடம் ஒன்றை துவங்கி மாணவர்களுக்கு நடிப்பு பயிற்சி அளித்து வருகிறார். இவர் முதன்முறையாக கதாநாயகனாக நடித்த ‘ஜி’ திரைப்படம் பல சர்வதேச திரைப்பட விழாக்களில் கலந்து கொண்டு பல்வேறு விருதுகளை பெற்றது. இவருக்கும் சிறந்த நடிகருக்கான விருதை பெற்றுத் தந்தது.
அதனை தொடர்ந்து இயக்குனராக மாறும் முயற்சியில் இறங்கிய பொன்முடி ‘சோம பான ரூப சுந்தரம்’ என்கிற படத்தை துவங்கிய நிலையில் சில காரணங்களால் மேற்கொண்டு அடுத்த கட்டத்திற்கு நகர முடியாமல் பிரச்சனைகளை எதிர்கொண்டது. இந்த நிலையில் தான் ‘பிஎம்டபிள்யூ 1991’ (BMW 1991’) என்கிற படத்தை இயக்கியுள்ளார் பொன்முடி.
இந்த படம் உருவான விதம் குறித்து இயக்குநர் பொன்முடி திருமலைசாமி கூறும்போது, “இதற்கு முன்பாக நான் இயக்கிய சோம பான ரூப சுந்தரம் படத்தில் விஷ்ணு பிரியன், ஐஸ்வர்யா தத்தா ஆகியோர் நடித்தனர். சில காரணங்களால் அந்த படத்தை எடுக்க முடியாத அளவிற்கு பிரச்சனைகள் இருந்தது. அந்த சமயத்தில் நடிகை ஐஸ்வர்யா தத்தா அடுத்த படமாக என்ன எடுக்கப் போகிறீர்கள் என கேட்டபோது, ஒரு கோபத்தில் கதாநாயகன், நாயகி இல்லாமலேயே ஒரு படத்தை எடுக்க போகிறேன் என்று கூறினேன். இதைக் கேட்டு அவர் என் மீது மிகவும் கோபப்பட்டார்.
கோபத்தில் சொல்லிவிட்டேனே தவிர, இதை சாதிக்க முடியுமா என்று நினைத்தபோது தான் இந்த ‘BMW 1991’ கதை கிடைத்தது. சொல்லப்போனால் நடிகை ஐஸ்வர்யா தத்தாவிடம் விடுத்த சவாலுக்காகவே இந்த படத்தை நான் உருவாக்கினேன். படத்தின் பெயர் தான் BMW என்பதே தவிர படத்தில் ஒரு சைக்கிள் தான் பிரதான இடம் பிடித்துள்ளது.
உலகம் முழுவதும் உள்ள அனைத்து மனிதர்களுக்கும் பொதுவான ஒன்றுதான் சைக்கிள். ஒரு காலத்தில் சைக்கிள் வைத்திருப்பதே மிகப்பெரிய கௌரவமாகவும் பெரிய விஷயமாகவும் பார்க்கப்பட்டது. சொல்லப்போனால் ஒரு காருக்கு நிகராக அதை பலர் கருதினார்கள். அதை மையப்படுத்தி தான் இந்த படத்தின் கதையை உருவாக்கினேன். ஏற்கனவே நாளைய இயக்குனர் நிகழ்ச்சியின் பல சீசன்களில் பல இயக்குனர்களுக்கு நான் கதை கொடுத்துள்ளேன். சில பேருக்கு இயக்குனராக சிபாரிசும் செய்துள்ளேன். ‘பீச்சாங்கை’ திரைப்படத்தில் பணியாற்றிய சமயத்தில் எனக்கு அதற்கான உரிய அங்கீகாரம் கிடைக்கவில்லை. அதனால் தான் இயக்குநராக வேண்டும் என முடிவு செய்தேன்.
அதேபோல ஒரு நடிகன் இயக்குனர் ஆகக்கூடாது, பட்ஜெட்டை அதிகம் இழுத்து விடுவார்கள் என்று சொல்லப்பட்டு வரும் நிலையில், அதையும் முறியடிக்கும் விதமாக குறைந்த பட்ஜெட்டில் ஒரு படத்தை இயக்க வேண்டும் என்றும் அதைக்கூட விருதுக்கான படமாக எடுத்தால் கவனம் ஈர்க்கலாம் என்றும் தீர்மானித்தேன்.
இந்த படத்தின் மைய கதாபாத்திரமாக மதுரையை சேர்ந்த ஒன்பது வயது சிறுவன் கௌதம் நடித்துள்ளார். நாக்கில் அறுவை சிகிச்சை செய்யப்பட்ட நிலையில், திக்குவாய் பிரச்சனை கொண்ட அந்த பையனுக்கு 6 மாதம் பேச்சு மற்றும் நடிப்பு பயிற்சி கொடுத்தேன். இந்த படத்தில் மிக சிறப்பாக பேசி நடித்துள்ளார். மிகப்பெரிய அளவில் சினிமா அனுபவம் இல்லாத, அதே சமயம் என்னிடம் பயிற்சி பெற்ற கிட்டத்திட்ட 50க்கும் மேற்பட்டவர்களின் உதவியுடன் இந்த படத்தை உருவாக்கியுள்ளேன்.
விருதுக்கான படம் என்றாலும் கூட, இதில் மூன்று பாடல்களும் ஒரு சண்டைக் காட்சியும் இடம்பெற்றுள்ளன. அதில் ஒரு பாடல் ஆங்கிலத்தில் எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது..கோவையை சேர்ந்த எழுத்தாளர் நடிகர் விசாரணை திரைப்படத்தின் கதாசிரியர் M.சந்திரகுமார் இந்த படத்தை பார்த்துவிட்டு, விருதுகளுக்கு மட்டுமல்ல, ஒரு கமர்சியல் படத்திற்கு தேவையான அம்சங்களும் இதில் இருக்கின்றன என்று பாராட்டினார். இரண்டு மணி நேரம் ஓடும் விதமாக இப்படம் உருவாகியுள்ளது” என இயக்குனர் பொன்முடி திருமலைசாமி கூறியுள்ளார்.
திரைப்பட விழாக்களில் கலந்துகொள்வது மட்டுமல்லாமல், இப்படத்தை திரையரங்குளில் ரிலீஸ் செய்யும் பணிகளும் நடைபெற்று வருகிறது.
