Following the awe-inspiring cinematic experience of ‘Eeram’, both director Arivazhagan and actor Aadhi are back to offer yet another astounding theatrical gift to the audience with their new-fangled supernatural thriller titled ‘Sabdham’. Given that this marks the second collaboration between the two after a span of 15 years since their successful film ‘Eeram,’ the anticipation surrounding this project has significantly increased.

The film stars Lakshmi Menon as the heroine, with Simran, Laila, M.S. Bhaskar, Rajeev Menon, Reddy Kingsley and others playing important roles. Thaman has composed the music for this film, which is in the supernatural thriller genre. The film will be released in theaters on Feb-28 (tomorrow).

Marking this special occasion, actor Aadhi interacted with the press and media fraternity pertaining to the experience and the process of creating this movie ‘Sabdham’.

Here are some excerpts from the press meet held recently in Chennai…

“The film marks my second collaboration with director Arivazhagan after ‘Eeram’. While making this movie, we weren’t capable of understanding each other’s thought process, but now, we are so acquainted that we know the needs and expectations of each other. Significantly, it helped a lot while crafting and materialising our ambitious project ‘Sabdham’. His approach to scene creation is remarkable; he attends to every detail with great beauty. This film was ideally suited for our collaboration. Since completing this film, I feel a strong urge to undertake multiple projects at a quicker pace. I am particularly eager to collaborate with Arivazhagan consecutively.”

“Although there are few emotional bonding between the character that I and Lakshmi Menon play, we don’t have any physical intimacy sequences in this movie. It’s because, the film does not fall under the romantic genre; however, it does encompass themes of love. The contributions of all involved, including Lakshmi Menon, Simran, Laila, Rajeev Menon, and M.S. Bhaskar, are vital to the overall success of this project.”

“In this film, I appear as a paranormal investigator getting into a supernatural world, and the role I play, is something that hasn’t been witnessed before in Indian Cinema. It’s something fresh and unique. Courtesy to the insights provided by Arivazhagan during his research, which was totally educative. During this process, we were quite shocked by bone of the eminent icons in this respective field – Gaurav Tiwari, whose untimely demise remains a mystery. When I started my own research about him, I was literally surprised and shocked to witness some of his encounters. At one juncture, I started feeling that there are some similarities between him and me. I had aspirations of pursuing pilot training, but my path led me to cinema. He encountered paranormal phenomena while pursuing his pilot training, which prompted him to delve deeper into the subject, ultimately establishing an office in Mumbai and conducting numerous investigations.”

“While shooting the film, we experienced some paranormal encounters, and we could sense it very well. During those times, we would instantly alert our team members, ensuring that the shooting is completed instantly and we leave that place. We can say that we got used to it a little in a few days. While working on the film Eeram, I did not believe in ghosts. However, when I started researching for my character in this film and watched videos, I do believe to some extent that paranormal things might exist.

When it comes to choosing scripts, I don’t delineate it as Tamil and Telugu, but make sure that I feel those scripts are close to my heart and convincing. Much importantly, if the audiences will like them, and can connect with them. .This year, I have a couple of films coming up in Tamil – Sabdham and Maragatha Nanayam-2. The shooting of Maragatha Nanayam-2 will begin next month with the same team.

In Telugu, I am currently acting in the second part of Akandha along with Balakrishna. He also watched the trailer of Sabdham and praised it.

If you’re looking for the answer if I am keen on playing hero or villain, I would choose to embody a villain rather than a hero. The role of a villain is particularly intriguing due to the absence of significant constraints on the character. Notable actors such as Ajith, Vijay express a desire to take on villainous roles. Ultimately, the narrative should dictate the character’s alignment. It is often suggested that in certain films, the hero may exhibit traits similar to those of a villain. If this is the case, then such a portrayal is likely to be well-received. It is essential to cater to the preferences of the audience.

Creating a sequel to a successful film isn’t an issue, however, it is essential that the sequel owns a compelling narrative. Failing to do so risks diminishing the impact of the original film. When approached regarding a sequel to Mirugam, I found the proposed storyline unappealing. This is the reason I didn’t want to do this film.

As a producer, I always desire to make a commercial film, but but I also see that very few producers aspire to produce unique content-driven movies, which has a strong storytelling. While I acknowledge this reality, assembling a capable team for such projects is crucial and presents its own challenges. This complexity contributes to my gradual approach to filmmaking.

When it comes to priority, I feel ‘Direction’ as my top priority. However it needs and demands a lot of patience, which I think is something that I lack, and it can be stressful as well. Consequently, I am currently focusing solely on acting.

When it comes to sharing the scripts and projects with my wife, I don’t see it as a mandatory thing, but casually share it as a friend. Given her understanding of my preferences, she is able to consider the story from my perspective. Ultimately, the final decision rests with me.

When it comes to acting closely with female co-stars, I make it a point to inform my wife, Nikki Galrani, beforehand. Her experience in the film industry allows her to assess whether such interactions are necessary or just superficial. If the narrative does not necessitate it, she will certainly express her disapproval.

After working with my brother in Yagavarayanum Naa Kaakha, my brother has narrated a good script to me, and it’s quite interesting. We will be soon working together for this special project.”

Following “Yavarum Naa Kaakka,” my brother has proposed another intriguing story. I intend to participate in it when the timing is appropriate.

‘ஈரம்’ அறிவழகன் –ஆதி கூட்டணியில் இருமடங்கு எதிர்ப்புடன் வெளியாகும் ‘சப்தம்’

7G ஃபிலிம்ஸ் தயாரிப்பில் இயக்குநர் அறிவழகன் இயக்கத்தில் உருவாகியுள்ள படம் ‘சப்தம்’. இந்த படத்தில் ஆதி கதாநாயகனாக நடித்துள்ளார். ‘ஈரம்’ பிளாக் பஸ்டர் ஹிட் படத்திற்கு பிறகு 15 வருடங்கள் கழித்து இவர்கள் இருவரும் இணைந்து பணியாற்றியுள்ள இரண்டாவது படம் இது என்பதால் படத்தின் மீதான எதிர்பார்ப்பு இருமடங்காக உள்ளது..

இந்த படத்தில் கதாநாயகியாக லட்சுமி மேனன் நடிக்க முக்கிய வேடங்களில் சிம்ரன், லைலா, எம்.எஸ் பாஸ்கர், ராஜீவ் மேனன், ரெடின் கிங்ஸ்லி உள்ளிட்ட பலர் நடித்துள்ளனர். அமானுஷ்ய திரில்லர் ஜேனரில் உருவாகியுள்ள இந்த படத்திற்கு தமன் இசையமைத்துள்ளார். வரும் பிப்-28 (நாளை) இந்த படம் திரையரங்குகளில் வெளியாகிறது.

இதனைத் தொடர்ந்து பத்திரிகையாளர்களை சந்தித்த படத்தின் நாயகன் ஆதி தனது கதாபாத்திரம் குறித்தும் இந்த படத்தில் நடித்த அனுபவங்கள் குறித்தும் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார்.

பத்திரிகையாளர்களின் கேள்விகளுக்கு பதில் அளித்து நடிகர் ஆதி பேசும்போது,

“’ஈரம்’ படத்தை தொடர்ந்து இயக்குநர் அறிவழகன் உடன் இணைந்துள்ள படம் இது. எனது இரண்டாவது படமே அறிவழகன் சாருடன் தான். அந்த படம் உருவான சமயத்தில் அவரது எண்ண ஓட்டங்களே வித்தியாசமாக இருந்தது. அதனால் இந்த முறை சேர்ந்து பணியாற்றும் போது இருவருக்கும் ஒரு புரிதல் இருந்தது. அவர் காட்சிகளை உருவாக்கும் விதம், சின்ன சின்ன நுணுக்கங்களை மேற்கொள்வது எல்லாவற்றையும் அழகாக செய்வார். ஈரம் முடிந்த பிறகு நாங்கள் இருவரும் நெருங்கிய நண்பர்களாகி விட்டோம். அடிக்கடி சில கதைகள் பேசுவோம். ஆனால் அதற்கான ஒரு சரியான டீம் அமையவில்லை. இந்த படத்திற்கு அது சரியாக அமைந்தது. இந்த படத்திற்குப் பிறகு நிறைய படங்கள் கொஞ்சம் விரைவாக பண்ண வேண்டும் என்கிற எண்ணம் எனக்கு தோன்றியிருக்கிறது. குறிப்பாக அறிவழகன் உடன் இணைந்து அடுத்தடுத்து பணியாற்ற விரும்புகிறேன்.

லட்சுமி மேனனும் நானும் இந்த படத்தில் நெருக்கமாக நடித்திருந்தாலும் அது மனதளவில் தானே தவிர உடல் ரீதியாக அல்ல.. ஏனென்றால் அப்படி ஒரு காட்சி இந்த படத்திற்கு தேவைப்படவில்லை.. இந்த படம் காதல் படம் அல்ல.. ஆனால் காதலும் இருக்கும்.. லட்சுமி மேனன் மட்டுமல்ல.. சிம்ரன், லைலா, ராஜீவ் மேனன் எம்.எஸ் பாஸ்கர் உள்ளிட்ட ஒவ்வொருவரின் பங்களிப்புமே இந்த படத்தில் முக்கியமானது.

இந்த படத்தில் அமானுஷ்யங்களை ஆராய்ச்சி செய்யும் பாராநார்மல் இன்வெஸ்டிகேட்டர் கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்துள்ளேன். இந்திய சினிமாவில் இதுவரை இந்த கதாபாத்திரம் வந்ததில்லை. அப்படிப்பட்ட கதாபாத்திரங்கள் உண்மையிலேயே இருக்கிறார்கள். அப்படி யாருமே இதுவரை பண்ணாத ஒரு கதாபாத்திரம் செய்யும்போது அது ரொம்பவே சுவாரசியமாக இருக்கும். இதுகுறித்த விஷயங்களை அறிவழகன் ஆய்வு செய்து என்னிடம் விளக்கி சொன்னபோது ரொம்பவே சுவாரசியமாக இருந்தது. கௌரவ் திவாரி என்கிற பாராநார்மல் இன்வெஸ்டிகேட்டர் இருந்தார். அவர் இப்போது இல்லை. அவரது மரணம் கூட இதுவரை மர்மமாகவே இருக்கிறது. அவரைப் பற்றி நிறைய படித்தேன். நிறைய வீடியோக்கள் பார்த்தேன். ரொம்பவே சுவாரசியமாக இருந்தது. ஒரு இடத்தில் அவருடைய வாழ்க்கையும் என்னுடைய வாழ்க்கையும் கூட பொருந்தி போனது. அவரைப் போலவே நானும் பைலட் பயிற்சி எடுக்க விரும்பினேன். ஆனால் சினிமாவுக்கு வந்துவிட்டேன்.. அவர் அப்படி பைலட் பயிற்சி எடுக்க சென்ற இடத்தில் தான் பாராநார்மல் நடவடிக்கைகளை உணர்ந்திருக்கிறார். அதற்கு பிறகு தான் அது பற்றி படிக்க வேண்டும் என நினைத்து அதில் முழுமூச்சுடன் இறங்கி மும்பையில் அலுவலகம் அமைத்து நிறைய விசாரணைகளை அவர் செய்திருக்கிறார்.

இந்தப்படத்தின் படப்பிடிப்பு சமயங்களில் கூட சில அமானுஷ்ய விஷயங்களை உணர்ந்தோம். அது எங்களுக்கு நன்றாகவே தெரிந்தது. உடனே மற்றவர்களையும் உஷார்படுத்தி சீக்கிரமாக படப்பிடிப்பை நடத்தி விட்டு கிளம்புவோம். நேற்று ஒரு டீம் இன்டர்வியூ நடைபெற்றபோது கூட அங்கு அந்த அமானுஷ்யத்தை உணர முடிந்தது. சில நாட்களிலேயே இது கொஞ்சம் பழகிவிட்டது என்று சொல்லலாம். ஈரம் படத்தில் பணியாற்றும்போது எனக்கு பேய்கள் மீது நம்பிக்கை இல்லை. இந்தப் படத்தில் என்னுடைய கதாபாத்திரத்திற்காக சில ஆராய்ச்சிகளை நான் படிக்கும்போது, வீடியோக்களை பார்க்கும்போது அமானுஷ்ய விஷயங்கள் இருக்கலாம் என ஒரளவுக்கு நம்பத்தான் தோன்றுகிறது.

தமிழ், தெலுங்கு என மொழிகள் பிரித்துப் பார்த்து படம் பண்ணுவதில்லை. ஒருவர் கதை சொல்ல வரும்போது அது எந்த மொழி என்பதை விட, அது நமக்கு பிடிக்கிறதா, ஒத்து வருமா என்று தான் பார்க்கிறேன். தெலுங்கில் அதிகம் நடிப்பது போன்று தோற்றம் இருக்கலாம். ஆனால் இந்த வருடம் தமிழில் சப்தம், மரகத நாணயம்-2 என அடுத்தடுத்து படங்கள் வர இருக்கின்றன. மரகத நாணயம்-2 படப்பிடிப்பு அடுத்த மாதம் அதே குழுவினருடன் துவங்க இருக்கிறது.

தெலுங்கில் இப்போது பாலகிருஷ்ணா உடன் இணைந்து அகாண்டா இரண்டாம் பாகத்தில் நடித்து வருகிறேன். சப்தம் படத்தின் டிரைலரை அவரும் பார்த்து விட்டு பாராட்டினார்.

ஹீரோவா, வில்லனா எது அதிக விருப்பம் என்று கேட்டால் ஹீரோவை விட வில்லனாக நடிப்பதற்கு தான் விருப்பம். அந்த கதாபாத்திரத்துக்கு என பெரிதாக எல்லைகள் எதுவும் இருக்காது என்பதால் வில்லனாக நடிப்பது ஒரு சுவாரஸ்யம் தான். அஜித் விஜய் போன்றவர்களுக்கு வில்லனாக நடிக்க ஆசை.. இருந்தாலும் கதை தானே அதை தீர்மானிக்க வேண்டும். ஆனால் ஹீரோவே சில படங்களில் வில்லன் போல தான் இருக்கிறார் என்று சொல்கிறார்கள். அப்படி இருந்தால் தானே பிடிக்கிறது. ரசிகர்களுக்கு எது பிடிக்கிறதோ அதைத்தானே கொடுக்க வேண்டும்.

வெற்றி அடைந்த படத்துக்கு இரண்டாம் பாகம் எடுப்பது தவறில்லை. ஆனால் நல்ல கதை இருந்தால் மட்டுமே எடுக்க வேண்டும். அப்படி இல்லையென்றால் முதல் பாகத்தின் பெருமையை குறைத்தது போல் ஆகிவிடும். மிருகம் இரண்டாம் பாகத்திற்காக என்னிடம் வந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் சொன்ன கதையில் எனக்கு ஈர்ப்பு ஏற்படவில்லை. அதனால் மறுத்து விட்டேன் வேறு யாரையாவது வைத்து எடுத்துக் கொள்ளலாமா என்றார்கள். உங்கள் விருப்பம் என சொல்லி விட்டேன்.

ஒரு தயாரிப்பாளராக நான் இருந்தால் கமர்சியல் படம் எடுக்கத்தான் விரும்புவேன். ஆனால் கதைக்கு முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுக்கும் புதிய துணிச்சலான விஷயத்தை படமாக்க முன்வரும் தயாரிப்பாளர்கள் குறைவுதான். அதை நான் ஒப்புக் கொண்டாலும் கூட அதற்கு ஒரு டீம் அமைவது ரொம்பவே முக்கியம். அது சிரமமும் கூட. நான் படங்களை மெதுவாக பண்ணுவதற்கு அதுவும் ஒரு காரணம்.

டைரக்ஷனில் ஆர்வம் இருக்கிறது. ஆனால் ஒரு படத்தை டைரக்ஷன் பண்ணும் அளவிற்கு பொறுமை இல்லை. அது ரொம்பவே மன அழுத்தம் தரக்கூடியது. அதனால் நடிப்பு மட்டுமே இப்போதைக்கு போகும்.

திருமணம் ஆகிவிட்டதால் மனைவியுடன் இணைந்து தான் கதை கேட்பேன் என்பதெல்லாம் இல்லை. ஆனால் ஒரு கதை கேட்ட பின்பு நண்பர்களிடம் சொல்வது போல அவரிடம் சொல்லி அது குறித்து பேசி கொள்வேன். அவருக்கும் எனக்கு எந்த மாதிரி கதை பிடிக்கும் என்று தெரிவதால் என் பாயிண்ட் ஆப் வியூவில் இருந்துதான் யோசிப்பார். ஆனாலும் இறுதி முடிவை நான் தான் எடுக்கிறேன்.

இப்போது கதாநாயகிகளுடன் இணைந்து நெருக்கமான நடிக்க வேண்டி இருந்தால் முன்கூட்டியே மனைவி நிக்கி கல்ராணியி’டம் அது பற்றி சொல்லி விடுவேன். அவரும் சினிமா துறையில் இருந்தவர் என்பதால் கதைக்கு தேவைப்படுகிறதா இல்லையா என்பதை புரிந்து கொள்வார். கதைக்கு தேவை இல்லை என்றால் நிச்சயம் ஒத்துக்கொள்ள மாட்டார்.

யாவரும் நா காக்க படத்திற்கு பிறகு எனது சகோதரர் இன்னொரு கதை சொல்லியிருக்கிறார். ரொம்பவே சுவாரசியமாக இருக்கிறது. சரியான நேரம் வரும்போது அதில் நடிப்பேன்” என்று கூறினார்.

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, the lead actor Vishnu Manchu, director Mukesh Kumar Singh, and other key members of the cast and crew gathered to celebrate the moment.
