Synopsis

Kudumbasthan, directed by Rajeshwar Kalisamy, takes a hilariously chaotic dive into the life of a middle-class family struggling to make ends meet. The Good: A Deep Dive into Addiction and Redemption

One of the strongest aspects of Bottle Radha is its unflinching portrayal of alcoholism. The film doesn’t shy away from presenting the visceral realities of addiction—the physical toll, the emotional pain, and the impact on loved ones. Guru Somasundaram delivers a tour de force performance, embodying the struggles of an alcoholic with a rawness that is both painful and moving. His trembling hands, desperate gazes, and unpredictable moods lend authenticity to the character, making Radha’s journey feel real and relatable.

The rehab centre, depicted as both a haven and a cage, adds layers to the narrative. John Vijay as Ashokan, the centre’s head, is an understated powerhouse. Additionally, while Sanchana Natarajan brings earnestness to her role, her character feels underdeveloped, serving primarily as a catalyst for Radha’s transformation rather than a fully fleshed-out individual.

Guru Somasundaram is the beating heart of this film. His portrayal of Radha’s descent into despair and slow climb toward redemption is gripping. John Vijay’s restrained performance is equally praiseworthy, offering a calm yet commanding presence. Sanchana Natarajan and Maaran provide adequate support, though their roles lack depth compared to the leads.

While the actor’s erstwhile movies – Good Night & Lover have portrayed him as a protagonist from a middle-class family background, ‘Kudumbasthan’ visual promos signify that it’s yet another inclusion to the same league. Ask Manikandan about playing a similar role in the movies, and he says,“There’s always something beautiful and unique about middle-class families. If you examine ten families with similar backgrounds, you will uncover ten different stories. Even the smallest incident in their daily routines can be fascinating. The same goes with ‘Kudumbasthan,’ as the story and premise are entirely different from my previous films.”

The makers of the much-awaited Veera Dheera Sooran Part 2, which stars Chiyaan Vikram as the content-driven hero in an action-packed avatar, have officially announced the film’s release date. 

The film, directed by S.U. Arun Kumar, one of the well-celebrated and bankable directors of the Tamil film industry, features an amazing bunch of promising actors like Chiyaan Vikram, S.J Suryah, Sooraj Venjaramudu, and Dushara Vijayan. Theni Eswar is handling cinematography for this film, which features a musical score by G.V. Prakash Kumar. G.K. Prasanna is overseeing the editing work, and C.S. Balachandar is the art director.
