“Andhagan,” a Tamil remake of the acclaimed film “Andhadhun,” directed by Thiagarajan, has finally hit the screens. This comedy noir thriller brings a fresh twist to the original story while retaining its core essence.

Plot Summary:
Krish (Prashanth), a pianist in Pondicherry, pretends to be blind to secure better job opportunities and dreams of settling in London. He performs at a family restaurant run by Priya (Priya Anand), and the two develop a close bond. His life takes a dark turn when he is invited by veteran actor Karthik (Karthik) to perform at his home. There, Krish inadvertently witnesses Karthik’s murder and his body being disposed of by Karthik’s wife, Simi (Simran), and her lover, Manohar (Samuthirakani), who turns out to be a senior cop. The suspense intensifies as Krish, being blind, becomes a suspect in the eyes of Manohar.

Direction & Performance:
Thiagarajan’s direction masterfully balances local flavor with the original’s narrative, creating a gripping and entertaining film. The aesthetic visuals by cameraman Ravi Yadav and art director enhance the film’s appeal. The casting is spot-on, with Prashanth making a stellar comeback, perfectly embodying his role. Simran and Priya Anand also deliver memorable performances, adding depth to their characters. The film features strong performances from a talented supporting cast, including KS Ravikumar and Yogi Babu.

Technical Aspects:
The film’s cinematography and art direction are praiseworthy, contributing to its visual charm. However, the soundtrack by Santhosh Narayanan is less impactful, though the background score complements the film’s mood well.

Verdict:
“Andhagan” stands out as a riveting thriller with impressive performances and an engaging plot. It’s a successful remake that brings something new to the table while respecting the original. The film’s strong cast and effective direction make it a worthwhile watch.
