To celebrate Superstar Rajinikanth’s 74th birthday and his 50th Golden Year in Cinema, the iconic mega-hit film Thalapathi, directed by Mani Ratnam, is being digitally remastered (4K) and re-released on a grand scale by SSI Productions. The film, starring Rajinikanth, Mammootty, Arvind Swami, Srividya, and Shobana, with music composed by the maestro Ilaiyaraaja, will hit over 150 theaters across Tamil Nadu on 12.12.2024.
Even after 33 years since its release, the film continues to hold a special place in the hearts of the audience, and expectations for the re-release are sky-high. The music of Ilaiyaraaja, especially songs like Rakkamma Kaiya Thattu and Sundari Kannal Oru Sethi rendered by SPB, remains iconic and is regarded as some of the finest in the history of Tamil cinema.
Thalapathi is a milestone in Indian cinema, and this digital release gives today’s generation a chance to experience its grandeur and timelessness on the big screen.
