In recent years, re-releasing popular Tamil films that were well-celebrated and successful among fans has become a growing trend. This allows fans to relive and celebrate their favorite scenes on the big screen once again. Thalapathy Vijay’s Ghilli was a prime example of this trend, achieving massive success upon its re-release. This resurgence of blockbuster films in theaters has heightened the excitement among moviegoers.
In line with this, the 2005 romantic-comedy film Sachein, starring Thalapathy Vijay and Genelia Deshmukh was re-released globally across more than 350 theaters on April 18, after 20 years, and witnessed overwhelming success. To celebrate this achievement, the movie team organized a Thanksgiving meet in Chennai that was graced by the producer Kalaippuli S Thanu, director John Mahendran, music composer Devi Sri Prasad and dance choreographer Shobi graced the ocassion.
Shobi
Dance choreographer Shobi, who choreographed songs like Vaadi Vaadi and Kanmoodi Thirakkum Bothu in the film, shared during the event:
“It feels like a brand-new experience to participate in the success meet of Sachein, which has once again succeeded in theaters. It’s heartwarming to see today’s generation celebrating the songs just like the fans did 20 years ago. Working with producer Thanu sir, director John Mahendran, cinematographer Jeeva, and music director Devi Sri Prasad for the first time brings back fond memories. Thalapathy Vijay’s cooperation was a major reason why the song sequences turned out so well. Producer Thanu possesses three cinematic treasures with Vijay sir – Sachein, Thuppakki, and Theri. I sincerely thank the entire movie team, my dance crew, and the media friends.”
John Mahendran
Director John Mahendran then spoke:
“It doesn’t even feel like Sachein was re-released; it feels like a brand-new movie has hit the screens. It’s hard to believe 20 years have passed! Producer Thanu sir had informed me earlier about plans to re-release the film. He kept updating trailers and songs just like for a new film. The trailer, in particular, built great excitement and desire among audiences to watch it in theaters. The credit for that goes entirely to producer Thanu sir. It was astonishing to see the movie being released worldwide. While Thalapathy Vijay remains the major attraction pulling audiences to theaters, Thanu sir’s marketing efforts also played a crucial role. Devi Sri Prasad’s music and Shobi’s lively choreography kept the audience entertained. It is deeply saddening that cinematographer and director Jeeva, who captured such beautiful visuals, is no longer with us. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Thalapathy Vijay, Genelia, and the entire team for their wonderful cooperation during the shoot.”
Kalaippuli S Thanu
Producer Kalaippuli S Thanu then took the stage to share some delightful memories:
“It would take more than a day to narrate how Sachein came to be with Thalapathy Vijay. During a period when Vijay was focused on action-packed films like Thirupaachi and Madhurey, I suggested a change. I told him about director John Mahendran and the kind of story he had – something in the lines of Kushi. After arranging for John to narrate the story to Vijay, just an hour and a half later, Vijay called me and said he loved the story and was ready to do it.
We released the film worldwide on April 14, 2005, and it was a major commercial success. Distributors reported excellent box-office returns, and the film ran for 200 days in theaters. Now, thanks to reduced advertising costs and the ability to reach fans easily through digital media, Sachein’s re-release has also become a tremendous success, celebrated by families. The day after the re-release, I visited a theater with my family and witnessed an unbelievable crowd.
Vijay is an actor who lifts and supports producers without any trouble. Theater owners also played a major role in the movie’s re-release success. I sincerely thank the media friends who helped bring the film closer to the people and made it a grand success.”
Devi Sri Prasad
Music director Devi Sri Prasad, who energized two generations with his vibrant music, said:
“I celebrate my life through music. Wherever I go, people still talk about how wonderful Sachein’s songs are. Whether it’s a concert or an award ceremony, I’ve never stepped off a stage without performing a song from Sachein. It holds a very special place in my musical journey. I sincerely thank Thanu sir for giving me this opportunity.
I still remember getting a call from him, saying, ‘Wherever I go, people are talking about you!’ He asked me to meet him once I was back in Chennai, and when we met, he told me, ‘We are doing a film called Sachien.’ He treats me like one of his own family. A few months ago, he informed me about the plans to re-release Sachein, and seeing the way audiences are still celebrating the music even today fills my heart with joy. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire team and the media friends.”
With that, the success meet event celebrating Sachein’s re-release came to a delightful close.
மறு வெளியீட்டிலும் வெற்றியடைந்த ‘சச்சின்’ திரைப்படக்குழுவின் சக்ஸஸ் மீட்!
சமீப ஆண்டுகளில் ரசிகர்களால் அதிகம் கொண்டாடப் பட்டு வெற்றியடைந்த தமிழ் படங்களை மறு வெளியீடு செய்வது சமீபத்திய ட்ரென்டாக உள்ளது. இதனால் ரசிகர்கள் பெரிய திரையில் தங்களுக்குப் பிடித்த காட்சிகளை மீண்டும் பார்த்து கொண்டாடுவதை காண முடிகிறது. விஜய்யின் ‘கில்லி’ மறு வெளியீடாகி மாபெரும் வெற்றி பெற்றது, இதற்கு ஒரு உதாரணமாக அமைந்துள்ள நிலையில், பழைய ‘பிளாக்பஸ்டர்’ படங்கள் திரையரங்குகளில் மீண்டும் வெளியாவது ரசிகர்களிடையே உற்சாகத்தை மேலும் அதிகரித்துள்ளது. ‘தளபதி’ விஜய்யின் நடிப்பில் 2005-ஆம் ஆண்டு வெளியான காதல் மற்றும் நகைச்சுவை திரைப்படமான ‘சச்சின்’ 20-ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு கடந்த ஏப்ரல் 18-ஆம் தேதி உலகமெங்கும் 350-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட திரையரங்குகளில் மறுவெளியீடாகி மாபெரும் வெற்றி பெற்றதை

படத்தில் இடம்பெற்ற் ‘வாடி வாடி’ உள்ளிட்ட பாடல்களுக்கு நடனம் அமைத்த நடன இயக்குனர் ஷோபி பேசியபோது,” திரையரங்குகளில் மீண்டும் வெளியாகி வெற்றி பெற்ற ‘சச்சின்’ திரைப்படத்தின் சக்சஸ் மீட்டில் கலந்து கொள்வது ஒரு புது அனுபவமாக உள்ளது. அப்போதைய ரசிகர்களைப் போல 20 வருடங்களுக்குப் பிறகு இன்றைய தலைமுறையினரும் அந்த பாடல்களை கொண்டாடுவது, மகிழ்ச்சியாக உள்ளது. தயாரிப்பாளர் தாணு அவர்களின் தயாரிப்பில், இயக்குனர் ஜான் மகேந்திரன், ஒளிப்பதிவாளர் ஜீவா, இசையமைப்பாளர் தேவி ஸ்ரீ பிரசாத் ஆகியோருடன் முதல் முறையாக இணைந்து பணியாற்றியது மலரும் நினைவுகளாக உள்ளது. படத்தின் பாடல் காட்சிகள் மிக சிறப்பாக அமைய ‘தளபதி’ விஜய் அவர்களின் ஒத்துழைப்பும் மிக முக்கிய காரணம். தயாரிப்பாளர் தாணு அவர்களிடம் ‘தளபதி’ விஜயின் பொக்கிஷம் போன்று மூன்று திரைப்படங்கள் சச்சின்,துப்பாக்கி, தெறி உள்ளன. இத்திரைப்படக் குழுவினருக்கும், என்னுடைய நடன குழுவினருக்கும், ஊடக நண்பர்களுக்கும் எனது மனமார்ந்த நன்றிகளை தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன்”, என்று பேசினார்.
ஜான் மகேந்திரன்
அடுத்ததாக இயக்குனர் ஜான் பேசும்போது,” சச்சின் திரைப்படம் மீண்டும் வெளியாகியுள்ளதைப் போன்றே எனக்கு தோன்றவில்லை. 20 வருடம் கடந்து விட்டதா என்று ஆச்சரியமாக உள்ளது. புதுப்படம் வெளியானதை போன்றே உள்ளது. படத்தை மறுபடியும் வெளியீடப் போவதாக தயாரிப்பாளர் தாணு அவர்கள் என்னிடம் ஏற்கனவே கூறியிருந்தார். அடுத்ததாக படத்தின் பாடல்கள் மற்றும் ட்ரெய்லர் போன்ற அடுத்தடுத்த அப்டேட்டுகளை புதுப்படத்திற்கு விளம்பரப்படுத்துவது போன்றே கொடுத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார். ட்ரெய்லர் தான் இந்த படத்தை தியேட்டரில் பார்க்க வேண்டும் என்ற ஆர்வத்தை அனைவருக்கும் ஏற்படுத்தியிருக்கும். அதற்கு முழுக்க முழுக்க தயாரிப்பாளர் தாணு அவர்கள் தான் காரணம். திரைப்படத்தை உலகம் முழுவதும் வெளியிடுகிறார் என்பது மிகப்பெரிய ஆச்சர்யத்தை கொடுத்தது. திரைப்படத்தை மீண்டும் திரையரங்குகளில் கண்டுகளிக்க முக்கியமான ஈர்ப்பு சக்தியாக இருப்பது ‘தளபதி’ விஜய் என்றால், படத்திற்கு தேவையான விளம்பரத்தை கொடுத்து ரசிகர்களை திரையரங்குகளுக்கு வரவழைத்ததற்கு இன்னொரு காரணம் தயாரிப்பாளர் தாணு அவர்கள். அதே போல திரையரங்குகளில் தனது இசையின் மூலம் தேவி ஸ்ரீ பிரசாத் ரசிகர்களை கொண்டாட வைக்க, நடன இயக்குனர் ஷோபி அவர்கள் துள்ளலான நடன அசைவுகள் மூலம் ரசிகர்களை ஆடிப்பாட வைக்கிறார். அற்புதமான காட்சிகளை அளித்த ஒளிப்பதிவாளர், இயக்குனர் ஜீவா அவர்கள் நம்மிடையே இல்லை என்பது மிகவும் வருத்தமாக உள்ளது. படப்பிடிப்பு முழுக்க நல்ல ஒத்துழைப்பு கொடுத்து நடித்த ‘தளபதி’ விஜய் மற்றும் ஜெனிலியா இருவருக்கும், படக்குழுவினர் அனைவருக்கும் எனது மனமார்ந்த நன்றியை தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன்”, என முடித்தார்.

அடுத்ததாக நன்றி தெரிவிக்க வந்த தயாரிப்பாளர் ‘கலைப்புலி’ எஸ்.தாணு அவர்கள் படப்பிடிப்பின்போது நடந்த சுவாரசிய நிகழ்வுகளை பகிர்ந்து கொண்டு பேசியபோது,” ‘தளபதி’ விஜய்யிடம் எப்படி சச்சின் திரைப்படம் சென்றது என்பதை கூறினால் ஒரு நாள் போதாது. ‘தளபதி’ விஜய் திருப்பாச்சி, மதுர போன்ற அதிரடி திரைப்படங்களில் கவனம் செலுத்தும் பொழுது, ஒரு மாற்றத்திற்காக ‘தளபதி’ விஜய்யுடன் கலந்துரையாடும் போது இயக்குனர் ஜான் மகேந்திரன் பற்றி கூறினேன். அவர் என்னிடம் குஷி போன்ற கதை ஒன்றை கூறினார்,நீங்கள் கேட்கிறீர்களா?என்று கேட்டேன். அதன் பிறகு இயக்குனர் ஜான் மகேந்திரன் ‘தளபதி’ விஜய்யிடம் கதை கூற ஏற்பாடு செய்தேன். ஒன்றறை மணி நேரத்திற்கு பிறகு ‘தளபதி’ விஜய்யிடமிருந்து எனக்கு ஒரு அழைப்பு வந்தது, ‘கதை மிகவும் பிடித்திருக்கிறது; கண்டிப்பாக பண்ணலாமென்று’ கூறினார்.
உலகமெங்கும் 2005-ஆம் ஆண்டு ஏப்ரல் 14-ஆம் தேதி வெளியிட்டேன். திரைப்படத்தை வாங்கிய அனைத்து விநியோகஸ்தர்களும் நல்ல வசூல் சாதனை செய்ததாக கூறினார்கள். 200 நாட்கள் கடந்தும் திரையரங்குகளில் ஓடி சாதனை படைத்தது, இப்பொழுது விளம்பரப்படுத்துதலின் செலவு குறைந்திருப்பதாலும், டிஜிட்டல் ஊடக விளம்பரங்கள் மூலம் ரசிகர்களை எளிதாக சென்றடைவதன் மூலம் ரசிகர்கள் குடும்பம் குடும்பமாக கொண்டாடி, மிகப்பெரிய வெற்றியை தந்துள்ளார்கள். ‘சச்சின்’ மறுவெளியீடு செய்த மறுநாள் என் குடும்பத்துடன் திரையரங்குக்கு சென்றேன். அப்படி ஒரு மக்கள் கூட்டத்தை நான் பார்த்ததில்லை. தயாரிப்பாளர்களுக்கு எந்த ஒரு சிரமமும் இல்லாமல், அவர்களை உயர்த்தி ஊக்குவிக்கும் நடிகர்களில் ‘தளபதி’ விஜய்யும் ஒருவர். ‘சச்சின்’ திரைப்படம் மீண்டும் வெற்றியடைய திரையரங்கு உரிமையாளர்களும் மிகப்பெரிய காரணம். மேலும் திரைப்படத்தை மக்களிடம் கொண்டு சேர்த்து, மிகப்பெரிய வெற்றியடைய செய்த ஊடக நண்பர்களுக்கு மிக்க நன்றி”, என தனது உரையை முடித்துக் கொண்டார்.
தேவி ஸ்ரீ பிரசாத்
துள்ளலான இசையை தந்து இரண்டு தலைமுறை ரசிகர்களை ஆட்டம் போடவைத்த, ‘சச்சின்’ திரைப்படத்தின் இசையமைப்பாளர் தேவிஸ்ரீபிரசாத் பேசியபோது,”என் வாழ்க்கையை நான் இசையோடு தான் கொண்டாடுவேன். நான் எங்கு சென்றாலும் என்னிடம் எல்லோரும் சொல்வது ‘சச்சின்’ திரைப்படத்தின் பாடல்கள் மிகவும் அருமையாக இருக்கிறது என்று தான் இன்று வரையிலும் சொல்வார்கள். நான் செல்லும் இசை நிகழ்ச்சி அல்லது விருது விழாக்கள் என எங்கு சென்றாலும், இந்த படத்தின் பாடலை பாடாமல் மேடையை விட்டு இறங்க விட்டதே இல்லை. என் இசைப் பயணத்தில் ‘சச்சின்’ திரைப்படம் மிகவும் முக்கியமான ஒன்று, அதனால் தாணு சார் அவர்களுக்கு நன்றியை தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன். ஒருமுறை சாரிடமிருந்து அழைப்பு வந்தது, ‘எங்கு பார்த்தாலும் உனது பெயர் தான் பேசுகிறார்கள்’ என்று கூறினார். விரைவில் நாம் சந்திக்கலாம் சென்னை வந்ததும் கூறுங்கள் என்று கூறினார், நான் சென்னை வந்ததும் அவரை சந்தித்தேன். அப்பொழுதுதான் ” ‘சச்சின்’ என்ற திரைப்படம் பண்ணுகின்றோம்” என்று கூறினார். என்னை அவர் வீட்டு பிள்ளையாக தான் பார்ப்பார். சில மாதங்களுக்கு முன்பு ‘சச்சின்’ மறுவெளியீடு செய்யப் போகிறேன் என்று கூறினார். படமும் வெளியாகி தற்போது வரை மக்கள் கொண்டாடிக் கொண்டு இருக்கிறார்கள் என்பதை பார்க்கும் பொழுது மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருக்கிறது. படக்குழுவினர் மற்றும் ஊடக நண்பர்கள் அனைவருக்கும் எனது மனமார்ந்த நன்றிகளை தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன்”, என்று பேசினார்.
அத்துடன் படத்தின் வெற்றி விழா செய்தியாளர் சந்திப்பு இனிதே நிறைவுற்றது.
