அலங்கு திரைப்படத்தின் பத்திரிகையாளர் சந்திப்பு நேற்று சென்னையில் நடைபெற்றது. இவ்விழாவில் படத்தின் கலைஞர்கள், தொழில்நுட்ப கலைஞர்கள் மற்றும் விருந்தினர்கள் கலந்து கொண்டனர். மேலும், இயக்குனர் மிஷ்கின் சிறப்பு விருந்தினராக பங்கு பெற்றார்.

Introduction
Antha Naal, directed by Vivy Kathiresan, attempts to explore the dark and intriguing world of human sacrifices performed in the name of black magic. While the concept is rooted in historical practices and attempts to bring an element of authenticity, the execution leaves much to be desired. The movie oscillates between being a crime thriller and a supernatural horror, resulting in a narrative that lacks coherence and conviction.

The Plot
The story begins with Shri (Aryan Shyam), a celebrated filmmaker, preparing for his next venture—a horror thriller. Shri, along with his team of assistants—Sam (Aadhya Prasad), Lima (Meghna), Gautam (Kishore Kumar), and Mark (Rajkumar)—heads to a guest house provided by their producer on the city outskirts. Despite initial hesitation, the team agrees to use the location. However, what begins as a routine brainstorming session turns into a nightmare as eerie events start to unfold.

The film takes a historical detour to delve into the mythology of Maya Yaginis—demi-goddesses appeased through human sacrifices by practitioners of black magic. These practices were banned by ancient kings who feared their power, but the knowledge was secretly passed down through generations. The connection between this sinister past and the present horrors forms the crux of the narrative.

Execution and Direction
Director Vivy Kathiresan seems to have aimed for an amalgamation of historical horror and modern storytelling. However, the attempt feels half-hearted. The film’s pacing is uneven, and the scares fail to leave a lasting impression. The supernatural elements, though intriguing in concept, feel tacked on rather than integral to the plot. The screenplay struggles to balance historical exposition with the ongoing mystery, resulting in a disjointed narrative.

The performances by the cast are a mixed bag. Aryan Shyam and Meghna deliver passable performances, while others, unfortunately, fall short of the mark, making the characters feel underdeveloped. Synopsis

Director Prasadh Murugan’s Once Upon A Time In Madras takes a bold narrative approach, weaving together four distinct stories, each intricately connected by a single revolver.
