The Commissioner of Police,

Chennai.

Sir,

  1. I am a renowned music director having composed music for more than 1300 film movies and in excess of 7000 songs in several languages in India since the year 1976. The premise being Recording Theatre-1, (more fully well known as Ilaiyaraaja Recording Theatre) at Prasad Digital Film Laboratories compound, 28, Arunachalam Street, Saligramam, Chennai-600093 (hereinafter referred to as “said property” for the purpose of brevity) originally belonged to the renowned film producer and eminent film personality Mr. L.V.Prasad. The said Mr. L.V.Prasad, in the year 1977 has offered and given the entire block of the recording theatre-1 mentioned above, to me as mark of respect to my works in the film industry and also as a consideration for performing works for his projects. The late Shri. L V Prasad, has earmarked a specific area and a room specifically and exclusively and permitted me to possess, enjoy and utilise the property as my own without any hindrances with lock and key.
  • I have invested significant amount of money in including that several high value equipment, musical instruments, hand written musical notes etc., and installed and used in the said premise over a period and for more than 2 decades.
  • Even after the death of the said Shri L.V. Prasad, and my lawful possession and enjoyment of the said property over the past more than 25 years have continued without any hindrance and issues and Mr. Ramesh Prasad, the son of Late Shri. L.V. Prasad, recognised the understanding and continued the arrangement without any issues. However later, Mr. Sai Prasad, son of Mr. Ramesh Prasad, after assuming the control of the company Prasad Studios/ Prasad Digital Laboratories, in the first week September 2019, they have unlawfully threatened to disconnect electricity, water and other facilitates for my premise, also forcibly entered the premise with some henchmen and started to disturb my peaceful and exclusive possession and enjoyment of the premise threatening me not to use the premise and attempted to dispossess me from the premises.
  • I state that immediately after the unlawful threatening acts of the respondents as aforesaid, I have filed the suit in O.S. No. 7315 of 2019 before the Hon’ble City Civil Court, Chennai seeking permanent injunction restraining the said Sai Prasad and others, their men, etc., from in any manner interfering with my peaceful possession and enjoyment of the suit premise. The said suit is still pending.
  • I state that in the meanwhile, even at this extraordinary situation prevailing due to Covid19 pandemic and the lockdown imposed by the Government, the respondents herein have proceeded to break open the premise for which the original keys are under my lawful possession. I reliably learnt that in recent days, the respondents through their men have broken open even my personal room in the suit premise and have removed all my valuable materials kept thereon. I have kept all my valuable composition notes, several musical instruments, my personal belongings of day to day usage, etc. The worth of some of the materials cannot be quantified by way of money. I have learnt through my known circle that the said Mr. Sai Prasad through his men has been removing, stealing and damaging many of my belongings and articles which worth several crores. Therefore, necessary action to be taken against the miscreants and my belongings to be recovered immediately.
  • I state that though they have prevented my ingress and egress from the studio my valuable belongings are still lying there. Using the cover of this Covid pandemic, Mr Sai Prasad and his underlings have started destroying/removing/tampering my musical instruments/notes. All my invaluable composition notes are lying there and I received credible Information that they are being sold surreptitiously in the black market for a huge sum. This amounts to daylight robbery and grand theft. Immediate criminal action has to be initiated so that the entire musical instruments, digital recording equipments belonging to me, musical notes hand written by me, which are still lying there, will not be damaged, destroyed and sold. This is being done deliberately to dishonestly enrich themselves and cause a huge loss to me. This is also being done to demoralise me and ensure that I drop all legal proceedings against them.

Therefore, I request immediate action to be taken against Mr. Sai Prasad and his men for their unlawful and criminal acts of stealing, removing and damaging many of my articles and belongings from the premise being Recording Theatre-1, (more fully well known as Ilaiyaraaja Recording Theatre) at Prasad Digital Film Laboratories compound, 28, Arunachalam Street, Saligramam, Chennai-600093.

Yours faithfully,
