JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED.

First Tamil movie also Jo movie to have released during the lockdown and being a courtroom drama it was quite anticipated around the OTT platform users. (Additional info: R K Nagar also solely released on OTT platform earlier this year and also JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai (2015) released on DTH)

Starts with a beautiful scenery of a lake in Ooty but something’s fishy here??  A Psycho killing investigation case of a lady who had murdered children and two young men 19 years ago has been reopened by a petitioner who enjoys publicity in the local area, but why is he reopening such a controversial case of a psycho killer? And after such a long time? The movie unravels them slowly. The Mid-point ends with a major twist making the interesting court room drama divert into an intersection and change into and emotion drama and yet it does elevate a bit from there into us predicting what would have happened and an obvious climax of the protagonist winning the case, but is that it? Watch the movie on amazon prime.

The movie talks about child sex abuse which is hitting and thought provoking yet not hard enough. Always in support for the message the team has delivered, no doubt in that.

There are certain scenes in the movie where we question and come up with better solutions for the issue as we watch but wait it’s a movie let’s see how thing turn out!!?

Jo being the center of attraction in the film has done a perfect job with what was asked of her and her character. Parthiepan and his word plays have really pulled off a good defendant lawyer. A star cast like great directors like Bhagyaraj, Prathap Pothen and Pandiaraj made movie lovers more excited than usual, but has the director done a fair job when it comes to the distribution of screen space equally? is being held as a question mark. Since 50 % of the film is happening inside a court room there are limited angles being shot but yet makes us hold on to the drama, the exterior shots are very green and pleasant kudos to the director and cameraman  for choosing a place like Ooty for the plot. Art Director Amaran has really done a wonderful work, especially the decomposed dog with its legs tied up, it really hit the gut. Background scores made it’s a way into the pros too, but the two songs in the film were a real speed breaker. The lag was in the screenplay because it was too basic and not strong enough for Tamil audience who are largely into deep emotional scenes. Dir. JJ Fredrick has tried to adapt a lot of shots and scenes from the west, which are interesting at the same time rising a question of not fitting into the story this kind. The sketch of each character could have been a little stronger and complex.

Ponmagal Vandhal is a movie which has little glitches here and there yet a very much required movie with a bold content for everyone today to watch.
